I am excited to announce that the first publicly available Element Technica 3D Atom rig (magnesium) serial #002 has been completed and is immediately available for viewing/rental. Pic above is of the actual rig. Special thanks goes to the Element Technica team working day and night to produce these amazing rigs. This is the first of four rigs we plan to have in our arsenal to support Red Epic stereo 3d shoots. For more info, you can check out this video where Stephen Pizzo does a walk through of the Atom features with the prototype Atom rig.

Red Epic Rentals

Jim posted that shipping should pick up after Gibby gets his Epic-M. With this Epic-M rollout happening, which I am guessing will come very soon, our goal is to quickly kit out our first atom 3d Rig with two Red Epic-Ms for immediate testing and demonstration purposes. We are also very early serial number reservation holders and will be part of the first batches of Epic-X shipments once they start rolling out as well.

For those who may have missed Jim's last Epic-M post: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=712653#post712653

3D Turnkey Rental Experience

Right now, we are developing streamlined shoot-to-post options for projects who may be new to shooting in stereo. Part of the advantage of owning the first publicly available rig, is that we will be able to do extensive testing and trouble shooting early on. Using this early opportunity, we can then improve the experience for anyone who is considering shooting in stereo on Atom/Epic 3d rigs for their future projects.

Thanks!

Nope, it is not one of your Atoms. This serial #002 is mine. =)

Ha ha, I knew, teasing the crap out of you while congratulating you buddy ;)

Btw, for those that might not know or watch the entire video to hear Stephen words, there are Big Pros and Cons from
Going Magnesium, and you better know which one to get, we will have one Magnesium for all of our StedyCam Hand held
work, were the circa 5lb less weight will do us real good, while we will get 2 in Aluminum for Underwater Deep Atom
and all Action scenes requiring heavy rigging.

I'm jealous... Wish the market around here could justify me buying an Atom. I'm curious to see what the rental rates will be like. ;)

Look forward in having some more fun together buddy ;)

Tonaci, will there be demos in LA? If not, then I will definitely try to check this out during NAB though I'm sure it's going to be nuts .... thanks for everything you share :)

I'm sure Joey or Stephen will chime in, but some developments have been made since we recorded the prototype Atom walk through video more than a month ago.

The difference between the Aluminum rig and Magnesium version now lies in the "shark fin structure." Both models will feature aluminum legs, however, the magnesium version of the Atom will have magnesium shark fins and aluminum legs.

When mounted on a tripod or rigging situation which requires the legs, the aluminum legs provide the sturdiness required for shock handling of the rig.

When in handheld or steadicam mode, you can flip the rig upside down and remove the legs to get the most weight savings in under-thru mode. Due to this, there is essentially no longer a disadvantage to the magnesium version of the Atom as we originally thought.

I got a chance to hold the aluminum sharkfin by itself and the magnesium sharkfin...and the difference was drastic. The magnesium fin was about 1/3 of the weight.

Congrats Tonaci! Going to be in Cali soon and I am going to hunt you down. I recently got a few offers to shoot 3d and with ET delivering ATOM I feel like now is a good time to tackle it...Sign me up on that demo! Cheers and happy shooting.

Hi Tonaci,

I will most likely be in LA from Feb 24th to March 5th or so ... should I PM you with my real email address? I want to be in the same "cool kids" demo as Clay :) LOL just kidding, pretty much any that you have in that timeframe will do. I will confirm with you as the date gets closer, but really excited to see this. Thanks man ...

Anthony
