Hello,
I am just looking for something simple to inventory or check in and out my gear.
I was hoping that I could just get a label printer (like a brother PT-2730),
print out some code 128 or QC barcodes on a sticker, slap them onto my gear, and then scan them with my iphone to check them in or out.
But I cant find an app for that last part. Something that would just keep a really simple database.

I am not a big company, just one guy with a lot of stuff to keep track of and renting it out all the time (or using it myself).

The equipment screenshot of the Studio Suite 9 looks great but all the rest is way overkill for me and the solo user agreement does not come with iPhone support.

Any suggestions of any decent way to do it?
I have some rough DIY ideas, but I am sure I am not the only one doing this.

I also wish there were an iphone app for this, but we just use printed cheats, with checkboxes. We have a different printed sheet for each type of shoot, and also a "battery recharge" checkbox for late exhausted nights in the hotel room when maybe we would otherwise forget that the AAAs AND the AAs, AND the internal battery of this or that, AND the Red Bricks, AND... need to be plugged in.

Also looking for something like this, we are using Excel and Google-Cals at the moment which works but is not very comfortable and error-prone...

I am pretty sure that there are inventory programs where all your stuff get's it's own RFID tag, and then bloop - you are missing a 25' bnc cable pops up when you check it all back in. A guy I used to shoot pool with was telling me that that's exactly what his company did. Try searching for RFID inventory and see what comes up.

Cheers,
Nick

That also seems something easy to make. You'd just need a small RFID capsule or tag (example) and put it somewhere in your equipment where it won't become loose. From there it'd be a matter of writing a simple program and using a scanner whenever you take your inventory.

Actually, my school is getting a Mac based system for our cage checkout that will work via USB scanner, keeps track of who checks it out etc etc. If I remember correctly they are getting it for something crazy cheap, like $1K or something along those lines.

I'll try and find out who the owner is/name of the actual product/contact info if you'd like.

Send me a PM reminder!
