  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

any hackintosh hint?

Christina,

Why would you pay more for a Hackintosh with no support and no warranty that has a non sever chip in it when a MacPro could be had for less?

A refurbished Mac from Apple would likely be a much better value and certainly retain more value over time.

Funny you should bring that up... That's "Mike" the hackintosh guy. Who has been banned from these forums on more than one occasion. I would strongly urge caution before engaging in any sort of dealings with that guy. And Stephen makes a valid point. He's charging a lot more for that system then it costs to build, with no real warranty, etc.. It's not hard to build a hackintosh, plenty of info out there. And if you're going to run one, you really need to know how to put one together because it's not uncommon to need to tweak your OSX install when you want to add new hardware or even with certain OSX updates.

IMO, the only compelling reason to screw with the hackintosh thing is if you need more PCI slots. A perfectly valid reason, IMO. You don't save time or money with a hackintosh. Unless you cut corners and go with a desktop i7 CPU and essentially build half a Mac Pro.

AHAH call me NEO , is matrix reloaded eheheh
$ 3800 is a fool!!
The Hackintosh is built not buy it ....
and especially if you have a good reason.
Otherwise it is better to spend a little more and have a nice MacPro.

...wise words here Cristina.

If you want to use a hackintosh, build it yourself and teach yourself how to set it up and maintain it. If you're not willing to do this, you're asking for trouble.

I'm an IT Pro, and I struggled with building several Hackintoshes before giving up on the concept. Contrary to what you hear, there is no magic bullet method that works without some in depth hacking, and that includes maintenance.
