  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Recap January 22, 2011...

SSD is always going to be the best way to go, even for scarlet, unless your budget is really tight. I agree, getting SSD's now is the way to go, I ordered mine a month ago.

It just occurred to me... Is this thread a Red Herring? That is, diverting our attention away from the fact that Graeme hasn't been on these boards lately? Hmmmm?!

Is it possible Graeme is working with the Bit Torrent guy, incorporating Redcode into his new Screamin' Streamin' protocol?

Or maybe just taking some time off.

My first post, after years of lurking from the sidelines. I'm absolutely delighted by this update and cannot wait to get my hands on the Scarlet.

This time next year, I can imagine that list of movies will be a very long one. I hope there's room for short indie films on there too :)

Are there going to be special "packages" when purchasing a, say, epic S? This is the camera I'm looking into. I would also like to get a redrocket for my macpro 2008 2.8 octocore, as it seems to be a big boost in productivity and render time, as well as the CF module, an LCD, batteries, etc.

What I mean is will there be a comprehensive bundle selected by the red team for particular costumers needs? This would certainly help on the purchasing!

Hope to be able to get it this year, to start an ambitious project I've been holding for a while !

I LOVE the smell of Epics in the morning! Thank you for the exciting update, Jim!

"Deliveries of EPIC-X to all existing customers by summer 2011."

Jim

awesome. I think everyone will benefit when the trade-in program is put to bed and its back to first come first server ordering.

Thanks for the recap, I second Huston request for a monthly recap like your thoughts and suggestions (noise free) threads.

Mr Toad's wild ride is about to begin!

I hope this doesn't get lost in the noise....

How are thing looking on the accessory front? What will be available/unavailable when Epics start to ship? Are stocks well covered?

As much as I want to buy into RED... I am concerned that I could be buying a camera system but have missing accessories for months/years (like bomb EVF).

Some clarification on this would be good to hear.

btw - congrats on the huge movies starting to get REDified. Very good news.

Jim, What do you mean?

Jim, What do you mean?

Recap.

EPIC-Xs ship in reasonable quantities before NAB 2011.

Jim

"ship in reasonable quantities " may have a diffrent meaning for everyone on this forum. For some, delivering 100 cameras/month may be reasonable. For others a thousand cameras per month is a good number. But more important is What does "ship in reasonable quantities" mean to you and/or to the Red company?

Sorry to sound thick but I've become a little confused over the fully fledged Epic (not light or S version) for stage 4 (the non RED One owners). Will that be available to us after the summer or just the Epic S? Is that also called Epic X or is that just for RED One owners..... doh! sorry.

Speculation mode on, hold your hard hats!

And with the RedRay will come the surprise that (insert cinema chain here) has agreed to screen (insert movie her) exclusively in 4k from RedRay....

The fact that RED has an acquisition system (MX / EPIC / SCARLET), a delivery system (REDRay), what about showing the new REDreel and by the way, this was shown using the new RED Projector which links to the REDray for affordable viewing of 4k / 5k files,movies...

Although I do like your idea Gunleik! :-)
