  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Great stuff coming this year!

I just watched this on my laptop so it could just be me but is there no sound?

Or is it just that quiet? If so, that's incredible!

Hehe... never mind, there's no audio track. :blush5:

I know it's been in development for some time now, any chance you can give us your best guess for availability?

Also any new pricing info? Last I heard it was something over $100,000.

Yes you are right, there is no soundtrack, but compared to other
Motion Control units, CMOCOS is quite nice, but if you move at fast motions as 2m/s you will hear the 7 axis.

Hi Frank!
We are currently work on the workflow, and the software interface, we think there is a pretty good chance to have 1 or 2 systems available for testing and rental around CineGear Expo this year!

But as you know there is a famous quote: "Everything in life changes... including our…….

there are a few things that worries me with this robot style system.
For a start to me it looks like industrial robot in design only made with better looks.
but thats one thing.
so here is my questions. How easy is to control real time this robot performing real time moves, using a pan bar, or a joystick, or wheels? I would really like to see this side by side.to explain this better, how do you perform real time moves with real actors, and real takes, not just programing shots.
Second is when the load is of CG of the dolly , lets say you have a speed track of 1-2 meter /sec, how rigid can it perform of axis, I would really like to see this in track motion as well , performing moves of CG and the effect on the dolly system as well.
third is how much weight can this lift? specially of axis, what about 3d rig configuration?
heavy lenses?
And thats just 3 of my concerns but lets start with these first.
noise is not that important on motion control so no fuss about it.
thanks

Andreas,

Saw this at NAB a few years ago and was floored then, now with the dolly it's simply amazing. I want to know when it will be available for rental or purchase. Will it be sold or strictly rented?

Dear constantine!
Let me give you a few facts on CMOCOS, there a some major advantage compared to the most existing Motion Control Systems.
1) The weight of the rig is just 15Kg /33 lb and can carry load of max 10 Kg /22 lb so we don´t use mass for steady moves , its kept calm by controlling the torques of al axis.
So you are able to travel with a Motion Control system with your standard luggage on any plane. And of its small weight , it can be setup nearly everywhere, like small locations (elevator, car inside, hotel bathroom,…..)

2.) Cause of the 7 axis you are able to perform a linear vertical and horizontal motion from a single point without building tracks!

3.) you will not only have the possibility of control the motion with inputs like wheels, joystick, or stuff like that. You can move the camera by hand on the CMOCOS rig to follow an actor or some action, and after that, as it is MoCo you are able to playback your motion an record a clean plane.

or check some of the videos on youtube.com

4.) For the Post we will write the motion data in the R3D file so you get best control off your shot later in Postproduction and in CG integration.

5.) this are only a few feature,… there is some more cool stuff coming later this year.

Greetings from vienna!

Hi Mark!
Said it in an earlier post, we are currently work on the workflow, and the software interface, we think there is a pretty good chance to have 1 or 2 systems available for testing and rental around CineGear Expo this year!
We also will be a NAB with new things not seen before!

Dear Andreas, I understand what you say, but do not compare this clever overall system with other motion control rigs for many reasons.
first of all just a few feet of track motion( how long exactly ) is hardly the case for motion control shots at most cases longer track is needed. Thats why I had the impression that you can mount it on a moco dolly. But if you do this and you perform moves that are far out of the Center then most light weight dollies will need counterweights to hold this leverage steady and with out vibrations, which in most cases messes the shots. And I was purely wondering about this.
So it s a no dolly system.
I believe is a great and very smart performer but also very limited in many cases.
you are correct very light weight.
so for a traveler snap and shoot yes its great.
I would really love to see a video of an op making moves in 3 d space, pan tilt roll , using a pan bar , or joystick , or wheels,do you have one?
Smart machine

There will be wheels coming!

is there a mac app?
and an iPad app?
will the price be under 100,000$ ?
are you working on a motion controlled dolly track?
Can it precisely control the panther Dolly?
will there be preset motions?
will there be camera shake preset that can be laid on top of the programed motion?
can it control focus and can the focus be programed in the motion path?
does it have a safety feature that can detect resistant (if say it hit some one some thing) and aborts the motion?
