The more I play with Storm, the more I like it. This is going to be a MUST app for RED shooters when it hits the release stage.

Can you speak to how you see RedCineX and Storm cohabiting? Right now it seems sort of like Storm is "RedCineX Pro". Somewhat like how the original RedCine was to Scratch, though Storm wont be tens of thousands of dollars :-).

Or do you instead see RedCineX cohabiting as a sister app that will be used in conjunction?

I know with what I've seen so far, this will be added to the arsenal.

I've played with it a bit and it's pretty cool.

Sorry but i still prefer REDCINE-X.

I was hopping Storm would have more colour grading tools but at the moment it is very poor on that respect.

I will try it again when the release version comes out but it's not what i was hopping for yet.

I think it has GREAT capabilities, however the beta bit needs to get worked out. I've been using on and off and run into snags with red rocket attached and monitoring. But i completely see the future of this app and CAN'T wait for it to get the bugs ironed out....the quicker the better. I LOVE the way i can go back and forth from FCP to Storm.

This is an excellent question...

Hold off judgment until you see the release version. Amazing.

What I want most from Storm is the same gain/gamma/lift RGB balance manipulation within the RED SDK (just like the REDCINE-X) so that the adjustment plays back with RED ROCKET.

One of the comments on the foundry site is that Storm is the post "hub" people are waiting for, but they only talk of FCP integration. Is AVID not in the picture? Does something like a Storm+FCP make the AVID direct ingest advantage of RED native material irrelevant? So many questions, no time to research...

All that the Rocket can do should be enabled in my humble opinion. It would not only gives even more out of the investment in the Rocket, but would also help the grading process by allowing you to tweak in RT. I hate low resolution and less than RT, it isn't the same at lower res and it wears on you at less than RT. 0.002

The more I used the Storm beta the more I thought .... Redcine X is just SUCH a good programme. I am willing to be convinced but it is going to take something to persuade me to switch to Storm. I will hold off judgement until I see the release version.

Three questions:

1. Peter Majtan (I think) said a few months ago that Storm would work well with 2/3 Scarlet files, even without a Red Rocket. Don't know exactly what he meant. Any details?

2. Does Storm work with HDRx files?

3. Does Storm include MNMB?

Cool...

So what exactly do you do with it?

Here are my 2 basic needs:
1. I need same meta-controll as in RCX (Including RGB curves when working with a Rocket)
2. Conform-capacity on-par or better than RCX/Clipfinder. Format independent.

Next up:
1. Keeping track of all data connected to a project (Audio/video/stills/graphics)
2. A well thought out VFX exporting/naming engine and intergration with Nuke
3. Intergration with Resolve.
4. Basic RGB CC capacity (think a primary room... or at least a luma-curve)
5. Lin/log & log/lin, REC709/lin & lin/REC709, log/REC/709 & REC709/log tools for RGB material

Not that important until all the above are rock solid:
• Scopes
• Effects
• Tagging, if Storm cannot be used as a total logging tool, as that will have to be redone somewhere else anyhow
• A central place to keep script-notes

Now, it looks a bit more like it will become iMovie for RED, which is the one-stop app I would have been dying for just the first two weeks after I got 930...
Thus I do see the market for that. But I guess that is not the intention with the program? Or is it?
