I am planning to move back to Fairbanks Alaska later this year, and are also planning on buying one of the Scarlets when they arrive. Are there many folks shooting with RED's in sub-zero temps? If so...how is the performance?

Thanks in advance

Cool Reel! I have been shooting with tape based Canon's and now the XF300 and 7D's...I just cant wait to get a Scarlet. I have looked at some insulated covers from Porta Brace. Do you get much northern lights there? I lived in Nome Alaska for about 6 years and always wanted a great camera to shoot the lights with. Maybe I won't have to wait to much longer.

Todd's basement is pretty cold in the winter and we just shot a stop-animation movie with my RED no problem. I prob wouldn't really worry about it.

Is Todd's basement -40???

pwned. Methinks "Timmy" is pulling your leg.

But then again, maybe Todd's basement IS that cold. Hopefully Todd will show up and straighten it out once and for all. Oh TODD??

Yep.....thats a damn cold basement! When i was a kid in Fairbanks....it got down to -72 and busted our -80 thermometer outside the house.....thats cold.
