Many of us are waiting for it.
I want to film with it. can we we do it in March?
Been growing for five years, just wondering if I´ll be premature...

In case you missed it, Jim posted this in an obscure thread last night:

Depending on EPIC orders...

Feb. to begin EPIC-X production and April to begin EPIC-S production. Scarlet right in there somewhere.

That could change depending on a lot of things.

Jim

So March may be only a little early, and might not be out of the question. Subject to change, of course. I assume this means Scarlet and Epic are not on the same assembly line. Likely being assembled overseas as originally planned. Wonder where the lens is being made?

March is my guess for release. Hope they build alot before the release
So we dont have to wait months for it to ramp up.

All thou I wish I already had the Scarlet in my arsenal for work. This summer happens something Epic in my life. Im about to have my first kid around 2 june, and document that in 3k RAW would mean the world! and future proof it. Shooting this in 1080p would be a big mistake ;) as a wise man once said. So were keeping ours thumbs here that everything at Red runs smoothly and that the Scarlet fixed starts to roll out in big quantities in march.

First off, congratulations and best wishes!

Second, ANY camera(s) you use that work will be PRICELESS... But for your first child I'd recommend you stay away from operating the camera much and suggest you lend a hand to attend to the wife and witnessing the miracle firsthand up close, and not through an LCD or EVF. You won't regret it...

Thanks Nick, I think youre spot on!

Scarlet fixed lens will be released in June 2011 because my wife wants it for my birthday present!

Hmmm...and educated speculation on my part for the release of the first units of fixed lens Scarlet would be in late March or early April, before NAB 2011 - in other words about three months from now. I have no hard knowledge of this...its pure speculation on my part.

NAB 2011 will be when EPICs and Scarlets are making their way to the market. And the sheer number of orders RED will be taking by that time will probably be staggering. That's my guess anyways. Don't go booking ANY jobs for a RED camera that you don't have in your hand. RED has stated time and again things change, so never make the mistake of booking a show or a rental for a client based on expectations of having a pre-ordered camera shipped out to you. It would be folly to do so.

IT IS HERE THAT ALL THAT REALLY MATTER ... Steve Gibby I TAKE YOU GUESS ON IT . IT SOUND MORE PRACTICAL... IT A GOOD LOOK FOR RED TO HAVE BOTH OUT ON MARKET UNLESS THEY WAIT TO NAB 2012 FOR SCARLET APPROACH... BUT WE ALL DO NOT WANT THAT NOW DO WE LOL

Definitely do not make any bookings until you have 110% assurance that you can deliver. Or if you do, at the very least make sure the costumer understands the deal - that you might slip the deadline because of circumstances out of your control.
Anyhow, here's to hoping that Scarlet hits the street sooner rather than later next year :)

You mean there is such a thing? :biggrinjester:

Nope, we can count on there not being one!
The one Tonci was holding seemed pretty close to completion, though, and given the estimates Jim posted about when the EPIC models are scheduled to ramp up, I hope I can get my hands on one by July.

I agree with you andrew, July sounds like a pretty safe bet to me. I've been following this thing since it was announced and have since become a huge fan of RED. Now more than ever it seems things are really falling into place and you can actually see that the cameras are finished and working.
