So I asked this in the scarlet picture thread and it got buried, but this is important. I was continuing the thoughts of Jeff
Can Red confirm or deny Jeff's guesses?
Can we adust zoom, iris and focus at the EXACT same time by turning the lens wheel and the two wheels on the handle?
Can we program those buttons 1,2,3,4 to be an instant, 1-click change to the lens wheel? Meaning...lens wheel is currently focus, I click '2' and instantly the wheel is zoom. I change focal length, press '1' and instantly the wheel is focus again?
Lastly, can the Redmote wheel be used to remotely control zoom, focus, and/or iris?
I must admit I am surprised to see that Scarlet still has only one wheel on the fixed lens. It made perfect sense back when Scarlet was "3k for $3k" and was aimed at prosumers. But now I'm not so sure. I'm getting email from some people who are much more concerned about this then I am (as my eyes are still firmly on EpicX
.
No... You can assign the ring to any of those three funtions. Assign those functions to other dials, switches, etc.. on the camera. You can toggle between the functions.. Assign that toggle to any button, etc..
So you can have focus on the lens gear/ring while you control iris from the dial on the handle and zoom on a rocker switch. Need to switch to zoom on the lens ring and use AF mode? Toggle your settings from another button.
Or at least that's how I understand it all...![]()
