Hi there,

I'm wondering which graphics card is good for cs5 and fcp on the mac.

I'm looking at the nvidia gtx series cards, but cannot figure out exactly which one is properly supported and best for the mac, have a macpro from 2009 with 12 g ram.

Any pointers appreciated.

Thankyou

Either of the recommended top-of-the-line cards from NVIDIA or ATI will work. FX4000 (or FX4800) or ATI5870. The NVIDIA cards are better for CS5, because of CUDA, however the 5870 gives you decent performance with PPro. CUDA doesn't really matter with AE. ATI is better with Motion and Color.

Cool, thankyou for the info, a good help.

The GTX 285 works quite well with both PPro and Color, only 4% slower than the ATI 4870 under Color, but very fast under PPro.

Isn't the GTX285-Mac discontinued? I know there are some still floating around, including some for PCs that need to be reflashed, but the other cards are commonly available.

Yes, it's discontinued, but you'll find flashed ones on Ebay.
