Hi everyone,
I went to Photokina 3 days ago, and I saw really interresting things there.

First HDSLR:

Canon 60D. : No real innovations, it's like 550d/rebel t2i 's big brother (or maybe 7d's little sister). But the smart thing for video use was the moving rearscreen that missed on the 7d. That should be really nice to use with a Zacuto Z finder, directly on the left of the camera).

Sony Alpha 33/55 look like pretty (inexpensive) toys. The image on a 30" screen was great by the way. But the amazing thing about it was the autofocus in video mode ! Hyper reactive, more than many amateur small camcorders i've tried. There they made fantastic job.

But the star is certainly the nikon d7000:
It is not set as pro gear, but you'll find (almost) everything a pro camera as to get (well more concerning certain aspects). They just grown well up with this model making my D300S obsolete. This was a surprise ! Nikon d7000 ROCKS (his mother and sister) !

For lenses, I will remember the new nikon AFS 35mm 1.4. A bit too expensive to me (around 2000€) but incredible quality lens to come out soon!

Finally, was happy to see-touch-try to steal but was arrested by the cops- Zeiss cp2 primes set. They are heavy, they are quality built, they are shining-even-in-the-dark and producing wonderful images attached to the 5dmkII . They'll look fine on Epic/Scarlet !:emote_hippie:

I only stayed there less than 3 hours so couldn't see everything I wished, but if others have great news from there, don't hesitate.

One was connected live to a hdmi screen but wasn't actually shooting.
However the image shown looked really beautiful. Great colours and tones, black shadows... In fact, I know it depends on the screen too but That seemed to be very nice.

I already ordered my Nikon D7000 a week ago. I like a lighter SLR with these kind of specs!

16MP, 1080P video and adjustable sound levels with external microphone(s)

Sweet. I'm supposed to get it mid October. Can hardly wait!

Anyone at Photokina asked about 720p60? I wonder why they haven't included it like Canon's HDSLRs. I would imagine the throughput would be similar to 1080p24 in terms of buffering, so shouldn't they be capable of it?

Any hints of future enabling via firmware? Or am I dreaming...

There is only one thing that i would buy one of these cameras over the other and that is the one which best deals with jello.

By the way... a little news from the d7000, DXO marks tested the sensor and the results are amazing. It beats any 60d/7D... etc and is the best apsc sensor that can be equal to D3s and 5dmkII.
Go and see dxomark dot com ! ^^
