Amazing color photography from 1930-1940s

[Rudi Herbert]

Not necessarily cinematography, no moving images here, but really amazing photos from the 1930-1940's in even more impressive color. Check Vincent's blog, and click on the link that goes to over a thousand more of these photos. The old look of chrome film has no equal really, what depth, contrast and nuance...

So real, it's sur-real. Almost as if those people really existed!

My mom grew up on a farm with an outhouse until a teenager. Alive for lindbergh's flight (barely), movies, WW2, the jet age, the space age, the computer age, (I think she skipped the pot/LSD age), cell phone and now Internet age.

Talk about having seen it all!

I've been going through all of these photographs as I get reference points for a project I'm working on. They are just stunning. The life and energy in some of these photos is amazing. I really can't stop looking at them. What a great collection at the LOC. The large digital scans are a nice bonus.
