  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Best Wireless HD Transmitter for under $500

I have been looking for one of these. Love the >$500 value, going to track down some specs on this bad boy as I'm not 100% sold but thanks for bringing this to the attention of the forum.

Looks great but how do you power the transmitter? I see the HDelight is USB powered but the AirSync not. Is there a D-tap or other solution?

If this were done as a package I'd get it in a second. But having to sort out power myself makes it a barrier.

not really

not really

By the way - anyone thinking of using the HDelight - it's basically the same exact thing as the Asus Wicast.

I'd recommend skipping both of those altogether.
Shorter transmission distance. You don't want to use the USB powered one. Not enough amperage for real signal strength. It's a joke for our purposes. However, the AirsyncHD is great transmission power.

I've tested them all to 120ft- no difference in transmission distance:aureola:

revelation

Sure, except for when you have concrete or metal walls in the way.

All these devices are made out the same development kit, they max out the FCC legal transmission power. All have internal antennas. Now the antennas and their design will make some difference... I put my money on a big company that has the resources to tweak the design extensively....:001_cool:
and that includes Camwave and Boxx althought they do have external antennas ans can do better albeit at a price increase...
Yawn

And if you want some flame, I'll bring up your amusing fourth tier PL2eos mount.

Don't make me go Charizard on your ass.
(that's a little pokemon joke for all the other nerds like me out there - only meant in Jest)
Valium should do...
What's inacurate about my info?
And, what's amusing about the PL2EOS adapter- I'd be curious as for your (competent I'm sure) comments.
BTW my PL2EOS mount is available for purchase now... in stock.
Gives you proper support and mounting provisions for EOS cameras:thumbup:

I'll admit I like the handle, but the Eos mount from a Chinese lens adapter didn't really impress me. Unless that was just a prototype you were showing at the expo on Saturday - in Which case I can excuse the rapid mockup nature of the mount.

Never mind that PL mounts, with limited lens compatibility, for cameras with a ton of moire and aliasing problems are already an oversaturated market with Top tier manufacturers like Denz and HotRod Cameras all the way to one-man fabricators in Poland and Hong Kong are selling at every price point.

Other than that, it may have been interesting back in 2009.
Here is another revelation for you Dan:
I don't need to impress you- I need to impress my customers:wink5:
and they seem to be pretty happy.....
There is a demand so I supply the products- very simple really...
BTW the EOS mount is Japanese made....

Kids kids, Stop fighting. Remember, when fighting on the internet, even if you win, you are still a retard (or politically correct synonym there of).

Just curious here folks. Why is the thread sub $500? Isnt retail for this thing $199?
Is there another hd video transmission system for less than $500 to compare the whidi products to? What am I missing? A cable and a canon battery isn't close to 300 bucks is it?
Also on another note. Has anyone estranged the PCb from the huge plastic case this thing is in and taken a look at how big it is? A new more non ridiculous housing with a vmount or ab plate on both sides would make it easier to mount in a lot of cases.
It would be awesome to pair an hdsdi to hdmi convertor with the air sync in one box. More options of camera use. I know this is Red land, but there are hd production companies out there that won't use Red for thier non feature productions.

Dan or Jacek,
Have you guys tested multicam possibilities with these things? I know they have channels so can you use more than one of these sets next to each other without interference? On the brite-view website they say each set is paired with each other. Does that mean that the channels used are independant of each pair?

Thanks,
Josh
