Jim mentioned that EPIC-M will not delay the EPIC-X production not even by one day.

If anything it will sped up the EPIC-X release.

It is completely optional program. Some people will buy EPIC-M because they have a business case for buying it now, some will buy because of collectors values of such version of the camera and some will buy it just only because it will have red color screws in it

According to my math the difference is between $13,050 and $13,300 compared to retail. Don't forget the titanium PL mount is $2,000 extra value compared to the stock PL mount. Not sure how much the Redvolt batteries are each worth.

Okay, I just went in and done some numbers and this is what I have , all approx. off course, but it turns out is a much better deal then some people think.

Epic-M $58,000

Additionally to Epic-X Includes:
1x Titanium PL mount $2,500 - $500 = $2,000
1x SSD Module $1,500 = $1,500
4x SSD Drives $1,800 = $7,200
1x Bomb EVF $3,200 = $3,200
1x Side Handle $950 = $950

Total Extras: $14,850 (extra 2 batteries not calculated)

- 1x Base I/O Module (not included in Epic-M $1,750

Grand Total $13,100

$58,000 - $13,100 + 44,900

Considering that the Retail value of the Epic-X kit is around $34,000
then by this calculations the Epic-M its really only around only $10,000 difference, not a bad deal at all.

Total price for machined version is $58,000 - 46,250 = $11,750 difference = 25% more to have Epic machined probably a year before you could buy an Epic production model outright. So even if you are stage 2 but want a second camera you are only paying a 25% premium to have it much, much earlier (minus whatever value machined parts have).

:nono:I like you Michael, but come on, Its not going to be a year later dude. thats just pure FUD my man. I think you are greatly underestimating the new capacity of the RED RANCH.

Its maybe a 2 month head start to the first 500 to 1000. I have 2 in the first 100 so I just cant justify this ... and the production line is being built NOW, not after these are made. 2 separate lines.

secondly, machine are hand made, and much higher quality - that is much more valuable than the time factor...id say Machines parts are at least a 10% premium over cast, as thats what its been like with machined versus cast R1 accessories.

imho the M program is no different than the hot new car in limited release, someone always pays a premium to be first.
