Hello everyone,

I have an question about the use of a Nikon fisheye lens on the RED One.
We have the Nikon mount and a fisheye lens mounted on the RED One.
Problem here is that we don't have the full circle in picture.

What do we have to do to record the whole circle. (See attachment)

Can anyone help us out? :)

Assuming you are already at 4k, your only option may be to pull back a bit and then composite the black ring in post as you aren't going to get a different FOV from the lens.

Think of it as a polar letterbox!

You just made it more difficult ;)
I have seen video's where this has been done: http://vimeo.com/2614743
This is what we want to :)

We are missing a bit of the top and bottom..

My guess is that probably your fisheye is designed for Full Frame cameras so the image circle goes out of the s35 frame.

Take a look at the following chart:
http://www.dv.com/uploadedimages/DV101-SensorSizeChart_2.gif

You need to use a fish-eye lens that is made for a sensor equal or smaller than the sensor of the Red One - if you are to see the whole circle. As you can see, the APS-C is almost equal to the Red One. Try with a fish-eye made for APS-C sensors.

EDIT: My browser window had been open for a while, so I did not see the answers made by Mark, Richard and Schorman. But this sensor chart is a nice reminder - never the less.

Nikkor DX 10.5mm fisheye works perfect for me! Although I've never had a problem with any of my FX lenses either... I've had the circular problem when I've put a DX lens on a full frame 35 camera though. I thought it was because the DX lens was designed for a smaller sensor therefore on the full frame camera the sides were visible?!?!

The Peleg 8MM PL mount 35MM lens works great on the Red one..

I have one and use it all the time !

A rental may be available, let me know what your dates are.

I want to thank you all for the help.

I did some thinking and deceided to order the 4.5mm Sigma.
It will arrive tomorrow, so I will give you all a head up if it works or not ;)

I want to tell you all that the Sigma 4,5mm fisheye works like a charm!

Thanks to everyone for the help :)
