The great thing about the Manitoba Labor Tax Credit is they allow the Deeming of key positions such as DP, so we can in fact bring in anyone we like so long as we have a 'knowledge transfer' within the camera department.

There's a ton of work slated to go that we're co-producing and/or line producing in the next year, aside from our own projects.

We've got close to 2 feet of snow on the ground now, which is not exactly typical for this time of year. But the outdoor hockey rinks are open now, and that is sweet.

Curious about what percentage of films shown in Canada box office are U.S. Studio films vs. Canadian films ?

Very rough guess is at least 85% US, but depends on the theater you go to, small underground ones play more independent, large chains show what I would assume are playing at most US chain theaters. Most of our best talent/ successful directors gets poached by you guys anyway *cough* James Cameron *cough*.

Unless we're talking Quebec and their French Box Office -Telefilm aims for 5%, but it's actually about 3%...so pretty easy to do the math.

Actually Goon which is shooting in Winnipeg now with Jay Baruchel, Sean William Scott and Liev Schrieber is an $11 Million budget -and shooting Red MX.

Directed by Mike Dowse so it qualifies as Canadian Content as Jay co-wrote the script.

Not sure what Telefilm put in as far as equity, but Alliance is distributing.

Glad to hear Michael Dowse is at work : i really enjoyed IT'S ALL GONE PETE TONG.
Anyone here (outside Canada) see it? heard of it?

I'm in Canada and I haven't even heard of it. But then again, I'm not big into Canadian films, unless I'm working on them.

Even then it doesn't matter to me if it's Canadian or not, so long as it's good.

shameless plug, but if you need extra crew anytime I'm open

Article from our national today newspaper:

I should also say that 95% of films shot in Manitoba have been on the R1 MX in the last year.

And I met with the major distributor Alliance a week ago to plan a feature of ours they're distributing...they said in 18 months films will be completely digital at theaters.

Some pretty significant over statements in that article concerning Red. But you can't argue with the overall thrust that Red is taking over film in a very big way.

Thought I'd add to the Winnipeg banter.

Outdoor hockey in November. But still no Winnipeg Jets. Oh well.

The good news is that we have the MX for rent with all the fixings!
