So, I was watching the 60 minutes piece on the opening of the new broadway show (by Taymor, Bono and Edge) and I saw that they shot all of the video that would be projected onto the stages/backdrops on a RED ONE. Just thought y'all might like to know.

RED ONE shows up at ~7:20

thats cool. bono and edge did the music over a year ago. this project had a few false starts. its good to see it's finally off the ground.

My friend is in the cast and could'nt "say" a thing because of NDA's Thanks for the post! I got my tix for the 16th, super excited!!! I even postponed my move to Houston so I can see this monumental production. I can think of no better way to close a chapter on 15 years in NY Theater. No surprise that a game changing show will use a game changing camera system for their captures, but significant nonetheless! Very cool segment!

I was reading the New York Times on-line this morning when I saw this: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/29/theater/29spiderman.html?_r=1&hp

This is exactly why theater will forever be my first love; no retakes! When issues occur, and they do occur, this tests the mettle of the actors, co-stars and in this case the whole crew!!!! Man! What I would give to have seen this!
And to paraphrase a prominent forum member here: "What (who) else does any of this? It is no wonder we are late. It is a miracle we actually did it. Truly a miracle."
Taymor and Jannard are two of a kind, like minded pioneers exploring and redefining different landscapes, not afraid to put themselves out for criticism, taking serious risks, and they are doing what other folks with no balls will not. BRAVO!!!

Taymor is a artist. Love her or hate her she is very devoted and gifted and her process is fascinating.
We shot alot of off speed and off shutter angle. They were very interested in playing with the medium. From what I know the video intergration in the show will be awesome and the show will be quite the spectical.

I can't wait to see this! Ever since the proliferation of affordable projectors, shows all around town are integrating video. . .badly. Some of these well intentioned theater folks know very little about moving images, the tech behind it, and at worse, try to capture the footage themselves, without any kind of expert help (usu. due to budget constraints).
I anxiously look forward to seeing the fruits of your collaboration/labor with Taymor, I have a feeling this will be something special.
