Hi everyone,
I'm learning the RED workflow. I shot some RED footage recently. I found out that Final Cut Pro will not allow me to import this footage in its native 4K resolution. I was able to import it as 2K in either Pro Res 420, Pro Res 420 HQ, or REDCODE.
So I tried importing the footage into After Effects CS 4. I wasn't able to import the R3D file but I was able to import the proxy file. It allowed me to import it at 4K resolution. I exported it out from AE CS 4 as uncompressed, 8 bit file. I was then able to import the file into FCP as a 4K file.
So my question is, have I found a workaround for editing this RED footage in its native 4K format? Is this file that I have representative of the uncompressed, original r3D file that was shot? Is this what I need to do with all my files if I want to edit in 4K?
Thanks,
Anthony
