  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit...

Hehe, great pic :)

The last days really have been a blast just reading posts. this is what makes reduser all so worthwhile.

You don't only get to play with the cool gadgets, Jim, But also with the cool, big kids.
Very satisfactory - if I'd imagine myself in your position.

5 years ago I made the decision to build a camera. 3+ years ago we delivered the 1st ones. Today we are announcing that one of the biggest movies of our time will be shooting on our cameras. Pretty unbelievable.

Jim

Amazing! Congratulations Jim and the gang. It is amazing but, as has already been said, not at all surprising for anybody who knows. What else would they shoot on?

What more could you actually ask for, really?

You truly are an inspiration Jim. You had a vision and with hard work and an open mind you've pulled it off in record time. Sure, the bucks help but nobody can deny the amount of hours you've put into this.

Amazing, Amazing News, Amazing Image!!!

Epic rocks from New Zealand.

Also I'm living just around a corner from New Zealand's Consulate in Vienna...

Now seriously thinking to apply for NZ visa, fly there and tell them to shoot Hobbit with new lightweight and fast Leica's...

Retirement to Fiji?

Jim

Also I can imagine "retired" Jim "safely" swimming in his pool that's also a part of his villa on Fiji

and shooting slow-motion with Epic @ 120 fps "how the huge tiger sharks on the fly jumping out of water in a way of the hunting young Albatross birds at the South Pacific Ocean"***

all that using 600mm EF telephoto lens from Canon.

And of course simultaneously Jim is singing his favorite song "What A Wonderful World" lyrics by Louis Armstrong, smiling and smoking "Cohiba" Cuban cigar :sifone:.

But all that was shooting in 3D with 2x Epic by PJ crew and it took the main part of introduction scene in Hobbit.

Absolutely fantastic!!!

*** The similar scene was already seen (BBC) but now everything changed to fit in Hobbit...

Jean-Luc Godard showed us 50 years ago how all is working with re-making and re-modeling your favorite the scenes from other movies in his master-peace "À bout de souffle" :sifone:.

Hollywood took this "pattern" as one of its favorite movie writing concepts and rolling it all the time till present.

One of the famous examples is the work of American director Quentin Tarantino.

If I could choose one film (or two actually) to be shot on Red, this would have to be it. Love it, love it, love it!!!

It is truly astounding what you and the team have accomplished in such a short space of time. Money does play a role but vision and drive are what truly makes the seemingly impossible possible. Your whole story, from Oakley to Red, is the American Dream, truly an inspiration!

Whenever I have finished a Project, whatever the budget or concept, I get this amazing feeling - that I worked on that and thousands or millions of eyes are either enjoying it or hating it is an amazing thing that drives me on to the next - what you will feel when watching The Hobbit I have no idea but man what a thrill!

All the best,

Ok, maybe it was the time, but without you this would never have happened. (at least not in that short amount of time) You really changed the world of the moving pictures and made the big ones shake in their pants.

It's a thrill just being there life while it happens.

Thanks again.
