So I turn the camera on, Initialising boot up screen comes up then after about a minute it just goes black and my 17" reckons: UNSUPPORTED SIGNAL.

wtf?

That's weird. Anyone had this issue before?

So factory reset sorted it out but it'd be nice to know what setting gave rise to this issue.

Was System>Monitor>Preview set to "Menus [DVI]" instead of default "Video [720p]"? Not all monitors support the non-standard resolution.

Was System>Monitor>PVW REFRESH set to "50Hz" instead of default "59.94Hz" Not all monitors support every flavour of HD surprisingly, especially slightly older ones which only support the US standard of 59.94Hz and not 50Hz even on a UK bought monitor!

Finally in Playback there is System>Setup>Preferences>Playback>HD-SDI which can be set to 1080p or default 720p (live feed is always 720p). Old HD monitors might only support 1080i or PsF, and not p, but will support 720p.

Try toggling those settings with that monitor plugged up.
