We got our Rocket card working on a MacPro.
However, we still cant get the BOB to work.
We tried using HDMI to an NEC P521, Dell U2711 and even a Dell 2450FPW using a HDMI to DVI connector.
We did try the SDI but we dont have a dual-link system here so all we get is green from BOB and SDI out on supplied card.
Anyone have suggestions to what we can use with this BOB unit?
We purchased it to so we can use our HDMI capable displays here.
Ultimately we want this to feed into an Apple Cinema 30 using a Gefen converter.

well it looks like we didnt read the fine print.
Found this at support page BOB download.
Note:
In current firmware version, DVI out of the card (through the splitter cables) is supported as is HD-SDI out of the bracket attached to the card. HDMI out of the breakout box is not supported yet, but Dual Link RGB HD-SDI is.

Can't you just use a DVI to HDMI adapter. I was under the impression the HDMI is just DVI with audio (and copy protection) added?

HDMI is based on DVI signaling, but has expanded color space support standardized with later revisions. That's the biggest advantage here.

The AJA Hi5-3G HD-SDI to HDMI converter works awesome. 10bit/12bit out of the HDSDI through this converter looks awesome. And it supports just about every frame size and frame rate you'll want or need. Less than half the price of the BOB too.

You can also use a DVI to HDMI adapter/cable to feed your HDMI display. Only catch is that you'll be limited to 8bit.

HDMI out of the BOB should be coming really soon -- I know there's some people out there with the BOB who are testing it.

On what display?
Most are 8 bit except Dream Color (10 bit)and high end pro displays.
Are there any 12 bit displays?

I wish we knew that before buying the BOB. Does the AJA work flawless? Will it work with any HDMI display (Consumer/ProSumer)?

We tried this and it doesnt work. I cant see how this works if the HDMI part is not supported yet on BOB?

I wish they would come on here and tell me what their using to get it to work. We spent some much time trying to get this to work only to find out after (fine print) that HDMI is not YET supported :P

The Hi5 works very beautifully with Dreamcolor and the Eizo, for example...

we have a bunch of different 10-bit grading displays here, but I have really fallen in love with the (much cheaper) Dreamcolor...

Would have been nice to use the BoB, though - now it is ShelfWare...

The Panasonic plasmas are 10bit and cost around what a dreamcolor costs.

13th-gen. PF20xx and VT25 are 12bit -- 16bits/channel internally. Panny 11 and 12 series plasmas are all 10bit.

LG has several 10bit capable LED HDTVs in their consumer line-up now. Samsung's 3D plasmas are all 10bit.

Works with most anything. I'm using the AJA converters to feed Panasonic plasmas, DreamColor LCDs and a PLANAR 2K DLP projector.

Weird, but it could be a timing issue. I'm also talking about the DVI connectors on the back of the Rocket, not ports on the BOB. It doesn't send full HDMI signaling out of the DVI ports. So there is no guaranty of compatibility, but I haven't run into an issue yet. It has been supported since day-1 with the Rocket. That's how I ran my first Rocket until I hooked up the AJA converter a week or two later. HDMI out of the BOB is derived from the HD-SDI signal, not DVI, AFAIK.

They are using new firmware for the BoB that hasn't been released yet.

Don't feel too bad. I bought my BoB like 5 months ago after reading fine print saying the HDMI output was already supported. Even asked my rep to make sure 10-bit HDMI was working.

EDIT: I found the thread...

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

Well we discussed our situation and come to the conclusion that we will wait it out for the HDMI to be fixed on BOB.
We cant justify wasting anymore resources on this.

Thanks to all that contributed.
I would still like to hear everyones thoughts on what their using or what works (with BOB).

Our Bob works GREAT with HDMI out to our Panasonic 12 Series Pro Plasma-

send Deanan a a really nice email and he will hook you up.

Just know, when witching to Monitor in RC-X it does take 5 to 8 seconds for the signal to process out to the display and the display goes black and says NO SIGNAL during that time... give it a moment.

Also you need to make sure ALL of your drivers for BOTH RR and BoB are current... and then it should work great.

My only complaint is the NOISE> Thing is louder than my RAID

Doh!!

Doh!!

I mixed up my REDCine builds :P
I was testing from 262 (original reply from support)
Then support sent email with reference to 351, I thought I downloaded and test that version.
Well I did download and installed but did not have that as the link from my desktop dock :P
Is there a manual for REDCine X?
I had to click on every button to acccess the Video Output option.
Did not say anywhere to click on the Rocket icon to access that.
Were happy with the results so far except for the slow and tedious clip loads time to time.

Thanks to Jonathan at RED! Awesome help!!
