Can anyone comment on the pros/cons of Manhattan LCD HD891 (8.9" Pro LCD), Ikan VX7 and Ikan VX9?

I primarily would like to know whether any of these monitors have compatibility issues with RED's HDMI and SDI outputs; picture quality; user friendliness and so on.

Primarily interested in these as more of a director's monitor for remote field work.

I've read the specs so please, I would just like to hear from people who've had firs hand experience.

Thanks,

Tim

i have the Manhattan LCD...I don't have a Red yet, but on the other cameras I've used it with, it's rock solid and I haven't had any problems. Those guys actually answer the phone too!

Tim, I'm assuming that you meant the HD8910. It works great as a director's monitor and has just about every kind of input possible. I had them add an Anton Bauer plate on the back for total portability.

As a RED monitor, you will only get full screen information including waveform, camera status and operation menu overlays if you use the included HDMI to DVI cable and switch your monitor preview setting to MENUS [DVI]. This kills the signal from the SDI outputs on the camera.

I've been using the 8910 on the camera until the BOMB comes... hello, anyone?

Were torn between the newer DP6 SDI and the best possible Manhattan.
Now were not looking to replace our back-ordered RED Pro LCD but really which one is a better fit as a secondary/temp replacement?

Recently got a DP6. Excellent picture and great for focus. Build quality is top notch (one piece billet). Got ours with Canon batt plate (to also do HDSLR duty). Only design flaw is the in/outs for sdi stick straight out of the top and the HDMI straight down. Makes for some pretty inconvenient cabling. Solved it with right angle adaptors. Also, the accessories are well thought out. The hood is the best system I've seen as well as the snap on screen protectors (which are reasonably priced). Not crazy about their arm mount. Noga holds better. Also, because of the auto scaling, there is no better HDSLR monitor out there for a 5D. No cropping, uses the whole real estate and does it automatically. Customer service is excellent as well.
