I posted a while back a trailer for my first feature, ALTITUDE, and now just wanted to share the recent trailer release of BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW, an arthouse sci-fi feature that I shot Oct 2009. This was shot on Panavision 2-perf and Ultraspeed/Primo lenses.

Check it out here:

"Set in the strange and oppressive emotional landscape of the year 1983, Beyond The Black Rainbow is a Reagan era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons.

Featuring an original analog synthesizer score by Black Mountain's Jeremy Schmidt."

Nicely Done

Oh... WOWOW!

Norm.... these are some really incredible images. This is going to be a guidebook to shooting sci-fi in the years to come.
Ungodly good work!!!!

WOw, I can't really say how much a fan I am of this imagery.

We'll be offended if you don't share some of your shooting/coloring experiences on the film here in this forum....

re: the trailer edit - what no voice? how come no one promotes their stories anymore? It's like a dp reel. (the best dp reel ever...imho)

Thanks for the nice comments!

To be honest, this trailer shows only the tip of the iceberg of cool imagery. There are lots of really weird, artsy, shots and lighting in the film. I can't give away anything but you'll have to watch the film and see :)

Thanks again..

You can't talk about your shooting experiences?
C'mon man, get David Mullen on this...

Very cool. A lot of the cinematography feels a lot like what Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris would have looked like had it been shot 40 years later.

Almost a Solaris meets Muhalland Drive. Which sounds like a great combination.

I can talk shooting experience...

Shooting days...size of crew & light package...sources of
inspiration from director...were you able to work much w/ production designer..?
...mmm..can't think of anything else..
