  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Considering everything is subject to change... has there been any news on the bundle included with the fixed Scarlet. This bundle was announced Nov 09' and since then, I have not seen much mention of it by the RED team.

Is it definitely still going to happen?
Also, will there be a bundle for other products... some kind of starter kit?

My guess is that there is. The $5750 price mentioned is a $1,000 increase over the previous bundle price. However, what's in the bundle is subject to change.

This has been on my mind as well. Up until the HDRx addition we had all been believing what we had last been told $4750 = fixed kit, ready to shoot out of the box. Then HDRx increases this by $1000.
But I just can't tell anymore. Are we still able to believe this and make plans?

I'm praying for a Scarlet S35 basic kit at 10K.

Well until told otherwise we can believe it I think.
Most likely all the cameras will have some sort of bundled package prices for extras like the Redmotes and such.

As far as making plans..well..the price of gas varies day to day. So would
be unrealistic to expect Red to hold exactly onto prices announced a year ago. But look at it this way there has never been even a hint of any
big price increases. In the meantime just plan to save up whatever money you can...and don't invest it in the stock market cause you might need it
sooner rather than later.

Well if it was $5750 for just the brain and fixed lens...a lot of people would be saying goodbye (despite it still being a great price even then - hell they could sell it for twice or three times that and it would still be a good deal). Although the price may fluctuate slightly i'm pretty sure we would have been told or RED would know of big issues by now and needed to rectify something. Its not something that has crossed my mind. The only thing I am not sure of, which we still don't know is what kind of power the bundle comes with. They hadn't figured that one out last November.

It would be nice to at least has final details on bundles and such though.

I can't imagine there suddenly not being a bundle now. It maximizes the number of parts that you buy from RED, and also makes sure that everyone that buys it (which I assume most would) gets a kit that will be usable. Keeping as many customers from messing up as possible is the goal, right? Don't make customers have to jump through hoops to figure out what they need to get started - give it to them so it's easily buy-able, but also easily upgradeable.

Yes, everything is subject to change - so we probably won't know until it's shipping, or very close to that time, but if there isn't a bundle, needs will be discussed and won't be hard to find on the forums. I wouldn't worry about it too much right now.

I think there wil be a bundle - that's logical. The real question is whether the bundle is now $5750
or is the fixed brain $5750 and the bundle is more. ie another price hike

I'm sure Jared or Jim did mention a LONG time ago that there would be options on bundles. I think he was referring to size of LCD etc... It was quite a while ago so haven't a clue how to find the post.

Yes, I remember that comment, too. Can't remember the details, but to be some other bundles available in additition to it seems the gist of it was that there would be a few bundles available, not just the basic fixed bundle. Which would make sense to me.

Yeah things are always subject to change and all, but why would this have changed just because they haven’t explicitly repeated it in a while?

Most of the “subject to change” seems to have gone to adding more stuff, not taking it away. At the end of the day we won’t really know exactly what Scarlet is until it’s all done- but until then I think it’s pretty fair to assume that if they haven’t expressly said they dropped something, then whatever it is is probably still on track.

At least that’s the way I see it from their track record so far.

Last I remember Jim said they were planning on packages but weren't going to announce anything until they had stuff ready to ship.

Jeremy asked:

More than likely everyone is looking to purchase the Scarlet Interchangable, CORRECT? Yes. I think they should offer an interchangable package with the obvious add-ons that one would buy(NO LENS THOUGH), I'm talking battery/power, CF Module, REDMOTE, etc.., and whatever else we would obviously buy with the I.Scarlet.(<--not an apple product, just being lazy!)

Basically OFFER MORE PACKAGES!!!!!!!!! with a slight discount, and not the add 550 for this 500 for that, TOTAL.

And Jim answered:

We agree... it has been in our plan from the beginning. Just no need to post any more details that can change until we absolutely know where we are.

Jim

I think the bundle for the fixed Scarlet is still going to be offered, but what it will included is anybodies guess.

Fixed brain only for the price would likely mean an increase of more than $1,000 for the bundle, as the old price (now missing from the Red site) for the 2.8-inch LCD alone was $900, and the single-slot CF module was $500. Red's prices have, on the whole, been increasing, so who but Red (and maybe not even they) knows what the final prices will be?
