Steve Jobs response to the future of fcp

Nice words!
But we need more than that.

Unfortunately it will come too late for my broadcast clients - in the UK, the BBC and Sky TV (the two largest by revenue) have both abandoned FCP. Sky got AVIDs for the same price as FCP suites - the higher costs of AVID are ofset by the high price of Mac Pros.

I saw this story a few weeks ago, shortly after I sent my own email to Apple. Funnily enough, I didn't get a reply, not sure why, but it might have something to do with how I expressed my utter disdain for the way they treat those professionals who have helped build their Empire over many years...

despite the fact that mr. jobs could care less about some past memories over his 220bio$ empire (don't get me wrong)...

what could he possibly do..
64Bit - not a big deal.
intuitive interfaces that change the entire perception of how to edit?
exclude relevant features to make them part of future upgrades to keep you keep buying appl* products?
repeating "isn't it amazing?" while holding a speech in front of hand picked brain washed people smearing his customer-based wealth right in their face..."damn. that was my acting text.."

gotta confess i'd stick to it unless the upgrade is worth buying buckles.

Steve Jobs wants to make next FCP or complete editing/DI suite that everybody can use it from a little kid, via grandma to high-end professional.

Perhaps for Sir Jobs, the financial debacle at NEXT is still quite fresh (albeit great products but a high-profile disaster). He seems to be leaving no room for error this time (ie. the jugular)

After seeing the latest Apple presentation a couple of weeks ago I agree on the little kid/grandma approach. A high end professional would probably choose something completely different. I don´t want or need an iPad GUI for the stuff I do.

There's no need to fear just because in the future a high end semi-professional and professional will get even less sophisticated.

This is reality of the global economy that want to sell products to the masses.

If you are not able to accommodate to the latest movements than somehow your professional days are already numbered.

I moved to premiere pro cs 5 and I'm a very happy man. Something spectacular needs to happen to fcp before I go back, and I doubt that they can do it, if they can't even manage to have the footage look the same in the viewer and in an exported qt movie. It's a pity though, I was always an apple man, I have 6 apples standing here, but the love started fading when I realized that apps were changing not to make them do more, but to keep you whithin the apple environment. but ofcourse, the main trick was 4k footage working on the timeline:w00t:

AVID will have at least 3 revisions out before even an FCP announcement.

Adobe is patching and updating fairly regularly.

FCP better be damn good to catch up.

Not a platform specific statement just seems logical.

Whatever you say, sir.

Yawn.

I would like to take this moment to say that 50% of the people that post on this forum are idiots. . .
