Just picked-up from B and H ($186.87- $50 mail-in rebate)

My first test was to see if the WiCast could hit 1080p, and sure enough it could.
I fired up Redone, set it to 1080p, and was up and running.
Preview HDMI outputs Working fine.
Playback HDMI outputs Working fine on both 720 & 1080p.
False color, Meter, Zebras are working fine.Latency, at least on the Redone, was invisible.
Range, up to 25' is ok. above that is noisy.

Minus DVI isn't working (It might be my monitor, not sure yet)

Tested on;
REDone and Lilliput 668GL (http://www.lilliputweb.net/index.php?Controller=User_Product&action=ShowProduct&product_id=112)

Have you tested the range? Working in both 720 and 1080? (playback only)

Range isn't tested yet (Don't have portable power for transmitter).

It it showing full menus?

Just to let everyone know:

Brite-View (similar product) is developing a camera specific version of their whdi device that will (hopefully) power off P-Tap and have camera mounting in mind.

just a heads up.

Also, the Brite-View (in theory) should have much better transmission range than 25'

Any idea of timing or price on the Brite-View Dan? $150 buys a lot of compromise! :yesnod:

Did you power it from the Red One USB ports?

Don't have portable power for this system.
RED USB-2 “master” port is to connect the camera to another camera or to connect a USB memory device to update camera firmware. It won't powered devices.

The Air SyncHD

brite-View's Wireless 1080p HD Video/ Audio Transmission Kit
Technology claims: up to 100 feet (1080i) / 66 feet (1080p).

It does power devices, it's just a question of how much power it provides. I power a USB snake light off the RED's USB type A port all the time. USB is specced for 5 volts, but I'm unsure if the USB port on the camera has an exact rating.

Some how, Can't power up my Transmitter via RED's USB.

Just for testing, I pulled out 12VCD to +5VCD board from DC/USB Vehicle Power Adapter

and Anton bauer Power Tap Kit.

Homedepot style and working fine.
Above trick won't work with Reciver, still wanting for Asus tech support to answer me some of my question.

Guys - I can't recommend the Brite-View AirSyncHD enough.

It has farther transmission capability than the Asus.

"Someone" is working with Brite-View to directly sell P-Tap and Small Li-Ion power solutions.

At Least that is what I "Heard."

I may have even "seen" one in action...

Well, not on my red. I use the usb port to power a small usb light for the AC to read lens info...

A light and other very small devices are fine. Anything that has a dual USB cable on it means it requires twice the power, and a normal USB, including the RED, won't be enough.

So yes the Red's USB has power, no it isn't enough for devices with a dual USB cable.

Okay - I can let the cat out of the bag - I've been using a Brite-View AirsyncHD with a prototype power cable that allows for powering from Anton-Bauer P-Tap, or a Canon LP-E6 battery. The power supply works for both the transmitter and receiver side and is REALLY REALLY COOL. This thing transmits uncompressed HD over 100' within line of sight, and has been doing well with everything we've thrown at it with concrete block walls in the way. Definitely a sweet setup.

Any link?

Is it showing full menus?
weight for T&R?

cheers

Weight:
I think it's definitely less than 6 ounces. That's really light...

Menus - haven't tested the menus yet - we were using it for the director to see full-scale at video village or remotely so no need for the menus there...but I'll check it out when I have time. I see no reason it wouldn't work...

It did do 1080p output when in playback mode playing a clip from camera...so...

thanks Dan,
Please update us on Menus test.
Link for prototype power cable please (if any).
