  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 340...

When I import an EDL into build 340, it adds an extra frame to the end of every shot. Thus, if I have five cuts in the EDL, the timeline will be five frames longer than it is in the edit. It appears as though RCX is misinterpreting exclusive timecode (where the record out TC of one shot is the same as the record in TC of the next shot) to mean the last frame should be included - but if the frames overlap the last frame should be *excluded*.

This appears to be a bug...

Trying to be a squeaky wheel here so this can get fixed :)

I'm trying to use build 340 in stereo with a Red Rocket but having no luck.

My goal is to view the 3D on my Sony Bravia 3D via HDMI in Side by Side or interleaved if I can.

I can get a 2D image no problem but if I bring in a 3D clip, the monitor just goes black. If I stop Rocket monitor playback I can see it on the computer monitor no problem, but I need it to be on the Bravia to be any use.

Rocket is set to 1920x1080 @ 25FPS, DVI-HDMI. Another thing is it will only output this if I have PSF enabled, but the manual says this only affects HD-SDI so not really sure what's happening.

Rocket firmware 1.1.8.6xx

Any advice?

Jim

For 3d clips, you have to go out the graphics card to the 3d monitor. I usually put the 3D monitor as the second monitor and the maximize the rcx viewer on the 3d monitor.

I`ve read a lot of comments, but not all of them, so i can be making a question that already have been made.
I work in Brazil and around here we are updating the firmware of REDOne[v30 (v30.6.0)] , in this way the software RedRushes doesn't work anymore and with that problem I have to use the REDCine X to convert the R3D in to quicktime. I`m using the version ˜Build 340", still the time of conversion of R3D files is really slower than the old one.

Question
1 - Is this the way it works? Or am I doing something wrong? To accelerate this process do I need to buy the RED ROCKET™?

2- In this REDCine X Build 340 I can convert 6 clips at the same time using more of the processor. In the BUILD 262, making the conversion, we use about 30% of the processor, and with Build 340 we use 70 to 80% to convert 6 clips at the same time. That change make the process a lot more faster. But in the mean time that the first part (this 6 clips) gets converted, the REDCine X does not keep the same amount of clips been converted at the same time. Is this some error of the software or there is a way to configurate that?

Thank you all in advance for the attention,

Danilo Lemos

Cool, good advice! Thanks Deanan.

Just to clarify, RCX does not have to be in the Application folder to install REDline. You don't need to be localadmin, either (just install to a folder you have permissions to). Also, the installer does not do a copy, it creates a symbolic link to the REDline executable inside the REDCINE-X.app bundle.

To manually install REDline to a folder that's in your path, like /home/bin, enter the following from the command line (assuming REDCINE-X.app is in /path/to):

ln -s /path/to/REDCINE-X.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline /home/bin

Alternatively, you can add /path/to/REDCINE-X.app/Contents/MacOS to your path.

Okay, I don't really understand enough command-line stuff, but I want to install this correctly. Currently my RCX build 340 is in this location:

/boot volume/applications/Red Software folder/RCX 340 Mac64 folder/RCX 340.app

So how do I install redline exactly, do I do this from within RCX in the menu option to "Install Redline?"

For clarification, Redline is included in the RCX package contents, correct? Or do I need to obtain a manual download of Redline someplace else?

Yes, REDline is included in the REDCINE-X.app bundle. To install it, select "Install REDline..." from the Help menu.

If you want to manually install it, you can enter the following in the command line:
sudo ln -sf "/boot volume/applications/Red Software folder/RCX 340 Mac64 folder/RCX 340.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline" /usr/sbin

Any idea when we will be able to customize filenames and folders based upon metadata? Also - any idea if we'll ever be able to export to an iPad friendly QT format?
