  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How to tell if an R3D is RC28, RC36 or RC42 in RedCineX?

Anyone know how to find this info out within RCX? It's not showing up in the metadata strip for a clip in RCX-326.

Ben, I'm curious why it matters? This is the one thing that truly is "baked-in" to the RAW footage. It can't be changed.

It matters to me when I teach someone who's new to RED and its workflow.
If i can go over their footage perhaps i can tell what they have done and where i may be able to help them improve image quality.
So i too would like to know if its something we can see in the metadata

Good note, that it is baked in, and as such is not really metadata separate and apart from the Raw footage. But the resolution and frame rate are also baked in, but those items do show up in the "metadata" list.

I need to know for continuity between cameras, troubleshooting and compression/encoding metrics.

Anyone know where to find this info in RCX or if it's possible there? If not there, then in another app?

Cheers,

It is available in STORM, together with other meta-data not visible elsewhere, such as vari-speed frame rate.

Good to hear about STORM's support of this. I'm not surprised here. I'm on the beta list and patiently waiting. :)

It's not too difficult to figure out which format it's in if you know the frame size, frame rate, file size, run time and know how to use a calculator. Just sayin....

I've noticed that in the latest REDCINE-X there's an improved metadata display, it seems they're getting ready to add more abilities there.

STORM is looking promising, but it seems the beta is still a few weeks out. I still can't get STORM (I'm on the alpha list) to play nice with my RED Rocket while all the other Rocket-enabled apps work just fine.
