We shot a film on the Red. Our editing suite is a 2010 Mac Pro with CS5 Premiere Pro (version 5.0.2). There's one day's worth of footage that we're having difficulty with importing into PP.

Every time we try to import it into PP, we get a dialogue box that says "Import Failure. Error Message: unsupported format or damaged file." However, when we open it in Red Cine X, the file plays perfectly without a hitch. It seems to be all there.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do to fix it?

Please help. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Stefan.

It's almost the entire days worth. There are a few clips that we can import. It seems that the clips we shot on CF cards are ok, but the clips on the hard drives are the ones we're having problems with.

Is it 4K?
Did you switch framerates, or frame size?
Did you record on different media?
How was it formatted?
How was the material copied?

Any of these questions could lead to solutions.

Do you have unicode characters in the path?

Cheers

Thanks David Bastitella and David McGavran for your suggestions. We updated EVERYTHING across the board as opposed to selectively updating the programs we use and that seemed to do the trick. So far, we've been able to import the clips from the HD. I'll keep you guys posted if anything comes up.

Thanks again!

hey henry, i just installed the 5.0.2 update for premiere cs5 (because i shot a feature on the mysterium x) and when i installed it this morning i have the same issues. i get import failure on my media. never had a problem until installing that update. you mentioned you updated everything...any ideas? thanks

Hi Neil. Try importing again. Sometimes, I still get the "Import Failure" message, but I would try importing the same file again (right after getting the message) and it will import the clip. Don't know why it does that, but so far, everything has been importing...even the ones that were giving me trouble. Hope this helps!
