  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 339...

So I attach the log file plus one frame from a render QT Prores 422 720p debayer 1/4th endered on a macbook pro running snow leopard. I hope that the uploads are fine... :>)

Please disable the crop on your clip. You are doing a crop to the full size of the clip which would effectively do nothing, however it seems to be causing your issue.

The crop is set to "no crop", from where else should I disable it?

Quick question as to EDL support...

Is it possible to render online files from an edl that will re-conect correctly from RCX?

Say you use clip A001_C001/A001_C003/A001_C001

Crimson/Redcine did a nice trick of arranging the sequence in folders named 0001/0002/0003 etc, in that way one avoided a naming conflict between A001 and A001 messing up the re-link.

I guess I ask:

Can one make a new EDL with the rendered online files from RCX?

Yup

That's pretty much it...

Also.
On a related note.
On 321, when sending off to instances of the same file with different in- and outpoints, the rendering engine goes a bit gaga.

Is this fixed?

Cheers

(who have spent days lately exporting DPX sequences to VFX/compositor through a manual naming schedule - thus having to export one clip at a time, because there's no simple way to export a sequence of images in a way that makes it logical which order they belong and which is on top of which in a composition...)

Let me refrase this into a suggestion....

It would be nice if one had the option to export a sequence into separate folders with the name 00001, 00002, 00003 etc

with each of the 0000X folders representing the next clip in the sequence and a folder named with the clipname and TOD TC-in as an option under the 0000x folder.

Thus:
00001/A001_C001_XXXX_15241214/XXXX.dpx

In addition - when XML support is working - it would be nice if video from track one could be named 00001A, from track 2 00001B etc

that way it would be easy to re-create a composite.

If the 00001A folder also could have the sequence TC-In name in the naming. I would be close to heaven... sorta.

Something like 00001A_01010100

The clip-in name should be absolute, independently of handle settings.

That would really make RC-X a batch-tool

Edit as a follow-up:
The reason I want 00001A as opposed to A00001 is that with 00001A/00001B these would fall next to eachother, so that you could quickly visually check that all parts of a composite are present.

Edit 2... -:)
As long as one can only import an EDL, it would be a good thing to manually be able to set the "A/B/C"
That way one could make an edl for each track and still be able to re-generate the composite with batch operations...

Edit 3...
... and if one could create a new EDL that re-connects to the right online files after this operation, that would make life even more... effective and less hacky...

Just a thought...

- when importing fcp xml, all clips are black and named "slug"
- and how do you export an xml ?

cheers, o

Hi Oliver,

That is because it could not relink them. Make sure you are pointing the Original R3D Data Directory setting on the import preferences panel to the correct location. Right now it will only traverse into .RDM's and .RDC's.

In general, we know the FCP XML import needs some attention, and it is going too in the same way that EDL did this time around.

Right now you can export an XML via the export specific settings for an R3D Trim export. Eventually there will be a more accessible option from the menu.

I did export R3D trim and generated a XML link to the R3D.
Then, opened the XML in Premiere pro (5.0.2).
It open an empty (sequence) bin. No luck for me with XML.
I'm not giving up so.
thanks for the update:thumbsup:

Playback of 4K 16:9 and HD with REDROCKET to end of clip leaves CPU (one core) load around 100%. Changing clips does not always clear the CPU. Changing clips using up and down arrow, always clears the load.

Confirmed to be a problem on Redcinex 262 326 339

I'll email logs..
