I designed and built this slider to use with my RED and now I can offer them to the community. I wanted a slider that could easily handle the red camera and a fluid head, that would be quiet and smooth but also portable but would not cost an arm and a leg.

I've been using the prototype for three months now on all of my jobs, it went through a few modifications and now I've arrived at a final version.
You can mount a ball head on it with an adapter or a flat base head directly on the top cheeseplate. I'll supply the tiedown knob depending on what head you plan to use with it. Your head tiedown can be used to mount it to a tripod. The bottom cheeseplate is moveable.

It'll handle any weight that you put on it without binding.

Heres an O'Connor 2575 head and red on it:

and here's a stills camera:

I have one 4ft version available now for $1200 + shipping (ball adapter not included).
weight is 20.6 pounds. SOLD
It will fit in a pelican gun case that is available for around $220.

There's a 2-3 week build time for other orders. I can quote prices for 2,3,4 or 5ft versions.
Any questions, just ask.
Regards,
Shane.

Thanks Mitch and Ketch.
Ketch, I would have to say no to the possibility of connecting the rails together but it is possible to have different sets of rails and use the same top plate and trucks.
I built the slider to give me small moves in a package that is portable and quick to set up , that would handle a heavy camera package and didn't cost $7k.
If I need anything longer, I'll use my camtram or a proper dolly. If you look at this detail of the wheel system, you'll see why the rails cannot be connected seamlessly:

Thanks for the interest,
Shane.

this is a screaming deal. I have torture tested two sliders for manufacturers, and this is the best-looking design for RED at this price point that I've seen.

Shane i'll buy the one for $1200.00

PM'd you.

cheers

Thanks Mitch and Ketch.

Understood Shane, just that some times I like to have 8 to 12' and no need to pull out the Trucks and dolly ;)

Ketch, you should take a look at the camtram, http://www.camtramsystem.com/ I have the previous version and, if you have a ladder or any 2 smooth parallel rails, you can have a 12' move. you can get a couple of adjustable sawhorses and be up and running in minutes. Abelcine are a reseller.

Thanks Shane, already have been looking in to them, as well as other Motorized type sliders, but with their limit in weight not so great for some applications.

Will definitely be ordering one of yours as well, as said, it will make a great addition to my Truck's system.

I have used my camtram with everything fro DSLRs to Varicams to RED. It can take it all.

Now back to your thread. The Sliders look GREAT!

Definitely interested.

Thanks to everyone for the interest in the sliders. I have supplies coming in next week to make 5 more if anyone would like one. I'm also putting together a version that has a Mitchell plate on the top to make it more standard for those of you with mitchell base heads. I still have to work out the details on this but, in theory, it should work. It makes the slider wider and a little more expensive and heavier but it will still fit in a pelican 1750 case.
I'm also looking for a name for the slider, the winning suggestion can get $100 off a new one. I was thinking "the little creep" but that might have negative connotations.
Maybe I should move this to accessories? and become a sponsor.
Thanks all,
Shane.

The name was a joke - sort of. Maybe I should call it a "Mickey Rooney". Sorry, old grip joke..little creep.

also, if anyone has any ideas for cheaper shipping to europe, I'm all ears. Fedex is quoting me over $300, I should just buy it a plane ticket.
moving over to accessories tomorrow.

Hehe, true, yeah Fedex International Economy is the best way, but the cheapest is Standard USPS, but I did lost a package once, so be aware with shipping US Post Office Internationally.

I just saw that CamTram yesterday at Abel Cine.... silky smooth.
