I just directed a project on RED One and unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the workflow. Since I'm a film student I assumed there would be some people at my school who'd be able to help me out a bit, but I'm getting a lot of different answers from people concerning the proper way to transfer the footage.

I want to transfer my footage so I can edit it and would like to edit with as little strain on the processor as possible. I do want to be able to return to the footage' original quality though once done.

We shot at 4k, 16:9 on 16gb flashcards. I've organized the footage on a day and card basis.

If anyone has a good suggestion of how to go about doing this I'd be very grateful. If I haven't given enough information here, just let me know.

Best,
Robert.

I have some manuals as to have transcode the footage but I find it all rather confusing.

Could somebody perhaps tell me what steps to take and what software I'd need to do so?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Best,
Robert

One possibility could be:

- Pregrading with Redcine X (don`t use the 326-Version)
- exporting as ProResHQ 422 or 4444
- cutting in FCP
- sending the ProRes Files to Color (if you just need a "light" correction)
or reconforming with Clipfinder and continue working with the RAW-Files.
Another possibility would be importing an FCP-XML-file into Redcine X

These scenarios work fine for HDTV, Blueray,... and probably for other end formats.

Cheers
Thomas.
