Sorry this problem can come from 1 or multiple of sorces so I am being thorugh and checking all. I posted the same question at mac forum so thanks any and all for help

am working on a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8
2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor
3 GB of Memory

Editing using FCP Studio 3
All Footage is contained 3 x 1TB Hitachie HD and 1 2TB Raid also Hitachie

My assumption is that the drives are causing my Problems but I am looking for any and all possible answers.

I am cutting my 2nd feature shot with red footage and I am using the same method on this project as I did the last. FCP only crashed on me with 1st project when my render folder got to full. I am using the 1k QT Proxies to edit with. Now my problem is that FCP is random with its wanting to crash and give me the ball of death.

Is there a way I can eliminate RED Files from my equation and point fingers at the Hitachie hard drives?
or is it rrealy impraticle to edit a feature shot on red using a MacBook Pro? Though i've cut 1 feature 2 commercials and a music video all shot on Red and my workflow had held up so far.

ok thanks for any help let me know if I left any info out.

Just ran systems check on all 4 Hitachie Hard Drives and Disk utility found no problems

Please check if you have any corrupt frames in your footage.
These could cause the crashes, even if the crashes appear to be random.

are you talking about random red or green frames? so far all the footage I have seen does not appear to have any corruption. is there a better way to check other than visual?

Corrupt frames can appear as solid color frames, or distorted frames, as far as I experienced it.
No... it's the best way to check visual in RedCineX or do a transcode.

– Use Disk Warrior to check your drives, the system uitility doesn't see most problems.
– Trash the preferences of FCS ( see www.digitalrebellion.com )
– Check your RAM, a good utility comes with Applejack.
