Maybe if you use your real name?

HDRx is RED's proprietary High Dynamic Range process. They wont reveal their specific technique, but traditionally HDR uses an over-exposed image and an under-exposed image and blends them together to increase the overall detail in a high contrast scene.

It's so you can shoot a scene where there are very bright areas and very dark areas and, without adjusting exposure, keep detail in both areas.

cheers. whats the thing about my name? it is tom cheater

Sorry Tom, but I'm sure you can see that it looks like a chat-room pseudonym. Reduser has a policy of using real names, as it's a forum for professionals. You might want to put your full name in your signature.

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. You can Google search for a lot of detail - stills people have been doing this for several years - but it's basically taking several exposures of a scene at different f/stops, then combining them to get a picture with a broader set of values (Photoshop has a built-in process). HDRx is Red's proprietary approach to being able to do it for moving pictures.

I'm trying to get a good thread going on the virtues and uses of HDR and specifically HDRx™™ and EasyHDR™™ at this thread: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50354

It's developing.

So far, Adam Wilt has the best overview of HDRx™™ in his Pro Video Coalition article about a recent big-screen show and tell: http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/awilt/story/red_visit_21_september_HDRx™™/

Put your name in a post here to change it: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32432&page=69

LOL
Nelson Goforth tells Tom Cheater that his name sounds like a chat-room pseudonym.

And Mr Pot referred to Mr Kettle as black?
