  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Will HDRx Need a SSD

Probably depends on the resolution and frame rate. I don't see how you could possibly record HDRx™ at 5k 16x9 and 60fps to anything slower than an SSD drive.

Has RED mentioned the max resolution and frame rate of HDRx?

HDRx for 2/3" Scarlet can be accomplished with a CF, but more options are available with an SSD. You will be able to order 2/3" Scarlet with the optional SSD if you choose.

Thanks for the confirmation on this front Jim. Can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this. I want the best piece of kit with the minimum possible compromises. Red fulfils that order more than I ever dreamed possible on a camera I could own. For an Indie filmmaker that is something else.

Which is then how much in total (estimated)?

That should appease everyone. I personally have no doubts that I'll be going SSD. Reliability and Media Size is very important to me.

Based on old prices (that are subject to change) the fixed kit is $5,750 with the HDRx upgrade. The difference between the CF side module and SSD side module is $2,000 so that would bring the kit to $7,750.

OUCH
That's up there with the HVX-200 I bought back in 2006....

That is for the rear mounted module...what about the side module?

The side SSD module is $2,500 and the rear SSD module is $1,500 (subject to change). The side CF module is $500 so the differences are $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
