Timelapse Part 8 - Traveling Without Moving

[Andrew Walker]

Shot this timelapse reel using the Dynamic Perception Motion Control rig using a 5D2 in RAW stills mode. The system specs say that it can also handle a RED One if its built light. I just need to get mine back from a rental to see how it fairs. Anyway, here's the reel. Mostly shot in LA of course.

Very nice imagery!

Though, I felt that the music was a bit too dramatic.

Wonderful footage. You've got me thinking how to apply this tech to a project I'm working on. Thanks.

I'm beta testing the DP rig right now. Not sure how far out there are before they start selling a lot of these units. The beta is going good so hopefully in a couple months they will be ready.

So sick, thanks for sharing! What is the name of the rig that you're using? And did you use the dolly for the vertical climbs?

I've just started a similar project in the Alps, hence the interest. I'm using this http://igus.de/wpck/default.aspx?pagenr=4773&foo2=GB&foo1=en&ArtNr=ZLW-1040-02-B-100-R with a motor and the meade head. I'll post when it's done...

The company that makes the rig is Dynamic Perception and they are in the process of beta testing the moco rig. Here are some BTS shots from when I was shooting some of the shots in the reel.

Great work as always...this is the kind of stuff that makes me actually wish I lived in LA.

Thanks for the kind words Jay. Glad I could get the system sharper than it already is.
