  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

POSTED: Release Build 30 (30.6.0) & Beta Build 31 (v31.6.9)

* Correction of FOCUS false color error when operating in VIEW = RAW.
IS it a correction ? I believed it was a well thought-out offer for the puller to do it in the take..., not every director loves to see black and white , some can manage viewing RAW with a bit of blue , but black and white??? PLEASE consider to change it like it was in build 30.5 ...IS someone pulling have the same Problem

One thing I haven't found yet and would like to see (please point it out to me if I've missed it) is Metadata in the R3D file that shows varispeed framerate.

Currently varispeed footaqge is usually shot at a lower RC and resolution than the main project rates but this is all set to change with the Epic and it's 5K @ 120fps. It would be nice to have a visible varispeed flag on clips and I guess a per frame recording of the rate. Sometimes this is needed not just to sort and find clips but to retime footage back to realtime etc.

That's another reason people will love STORM. It seems like a tiny thing, but I think it is very significant that STORM shows more detailed meta-data than anything else I know.

@ Nick Shaw,

I am really looking forward to Storm. The way metadata is displayed in RedcineX is currently not very human readable, intuitive or friendly, it could easily be interpreted and displayed in a more useful and intuitive fashion like you've shown. I'm glad Storm is going to do that.

Is any of the work the Foundry have done in developing their GPU/CPU multithreaded tech/engine working it's way in storms direction to speed up decoding and playback without needing a Rocket card? That's what I had hoped when I first heard about Storm and the CPU/GPU stuff at around the same time. Just a minor increase to make 1/4 res playback on a laptop smooth would help with checking critical focus when reviewing footage on set when stuck with just a laptop.
