Crop conundrum

What am I doing wrong here? I'm flummoxed. The goal is to have the cropped image be 1920x1080 and I've tried changing various settings but keep coming up with this odd output. Obviously doing something wrong here, but can't figure out what.

I have been trying to use the crop feature as well and the results are really random. Sometimes it does what it should do, sometimes the image is cropped more to the right and sometimes the image is stuck to the left side. And sometimes I get results like Mark's.

Trying to crop 4xhd to a 4x3 region.

I just tried to export a cropped file and got audio only with a black screen. I will email the logs to redcinex...

If I try to transcode a cropped clip, the program crashes. Also, the program seems to automatically set the crop mark on pics when I add them to a project, which is a bit of a pain because I then have to manually uncrop every clip. Also, it would be nice if the crop rectangle could be mouse-dragged in its entirety without the mouse resizing it.

Now that's a good thing to know !!!

However I don't quite understand how the Custom Crop functions. I have 4KHD (16:9) footage, which I plan on exporting in 1080x1920, so I've set a fixed aspect ratio of 16:9. I'm conforming a project from FCP where a number of frames have been reframed (resized/cropped), it would be great if those settings would import directly from FCP into RDX (this is also a message to Hans-Georg Daun creator of Clipfinder !), since that is not the case, I'm calculating the resizing (crop) factor based on the width, that works fine, but the height doesn't adjust automatically. I find that very odd, I want/need all my footage to be 16:9, why do I need to also calculate the height if I already have the width ?

Also, regarding the X, Y origin, I find it very odd that this corresponds to the upper left corner of the resize frame, it would seem a lot more natural to have the center of the frame, and lot easier as that is how FCP works.

Whenever I crop a 4k 2:1 image and render out as 2k 2:1 (DPX in this case, but it happens with other formats too) I get a one pixel border at the bottom and right edge of the rendered frame. I make sure that the cropping width and height are at a 2:1 ratio exactly, but I always get that border. AFAIK this problem has been around since many versions of RCX, if I remember correctly it was even in RC.

I've also noticed if I check "Lock Aspect Ratio (2:1)" and adjust the cropping box manually in the viewer it still allows for uneven ratios e.g. width: 3165px height: 1582px. Which is one pixel off in width.

When I adjust the number in the width field, the height doesn't update, even though Lock Aspect Ratio is turned on.
