  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Very Interesting Canon prototype 4k camera!!

Canon 4K / RAW ?

Canon 4K / RAW ?

It's not recording anything at the moment... and only runs at 60 fps apparently.

Good point. Is it actually just showing a picture on the LCD and not recording it anywhere? There's not only no mention of a file format but also no indication of a recording medium.

Looks like a boom-box from the early 80's.

Its really doesnt matter what it is it just shows you that Canon is not sleeping on 4k. They have tons of capitol and decades of R&D.
When they feel the mass public is ready to buy they will release the real thing, you can bet on that. Panny and Sony will soon follow with Nikon bringing up the rear.

All that may be true, but they seem to be a little slow on the uptake. This is only a concept. They certainly have resources but 12 bakers can't bake a cake that much faster than one. I think their R&D will take a while to evolve into results. I hope they help push things along. Competition is good.

Millan, stop trashing the hair drier design. It is meant to blend in with all the stuff your wife buys and forgets that she wasted money on. This way you get to buy something for once.

They have to know that they can do this if they need to. Canon is publicly traded and have no doubt been criticized by stock holders for letting upstarts grab headlines. Market leaders are seldom innovation leaders, but innovation leaders always lead markets. Case in point: Tesla motors: Once a viable electric car emerges, suddenly the Chevy Volt, the Nissan Leaf and others are/will be announced.

But this should make anyone who thinks that 4K in the home is a pipe dream to reconsider their opinions. Its coming faster, courtesy of the Great Recession.

Thanks Milan, now I have to wipe of some spit of the monitor. Laughed bigtime. It was very funny indeed!

Different market

"...unlike competing camera-maker RED's offerings, the Multipurpose concept is not specifically designed for digital cinema. Instead, it's intended to offer "multipurpose image capture," which seems to imply something like the continuous photography promised by Canon's other futuristic prototype."
