Hello world

i have a problem with a project and log and transfer. i don't know exactly what is happen.
It's not my project, it's a friend's project.

postproduction company have problems after edit all.
They have a pro ress 422 on the timeline and they want to transcode clips with log and transfer in pro ress native to get the .r3d file and have the best quality to do color correction on da vinci.
They can't transcode to native because it does not recognize the files.

I think the edit is not right, a wrong workflow.
When they sent me EDL the files are renamed to A001_C005_987867_REDMAG.mov (all exactly with "redmag")
.mov because is a final cut "proxy"
is this the problem?

when i try to do a bach capture final cut open log and capture, not log and transfer....

some more questions about it...

1. they said us that the problem is on the back up of our files. we copy only .rdm folder....
and they said they need all files... .magazines...

2. is there some workflow to fix it? i think the problem is in the name of the files....but i can't fix it with clipfinder because are not proxys or r3d...this files are .mov proress 422....

Is the file name exactly "A001_C005_987867_REDMAG.mov" or did you make up that name?

987867 is wrong. The first four digits should be the day and month the footage was shoot followed by two random numbers or letters. "9878" is not a date.

They need to use Clipfinder to fix this. If they do not have Proxys or R3Ds, then there is no fix.

i don't put the number right.
exactly the file name (one of this) is: a024_c010_02055M_redmag.mov
and the file is apple pro res 422....

they said us that the problem is we haven't the files: digital.magazine.profile and digital.magazinemic.profile......
but i think we don't need this clips.
i think the problem is they have renamed the clips and the clips now are pro res and not proxies....

what do you think about?

Prores is fine and adding the redmag to the end is fine, but someone will need to use Clipfinder to conform because of that. Clipfinder has settings to only look at the first 16 characters in the file name, so A024_C010_02055M_redmag.mov is only seen as A024_C010_02055M and you can tell Clipfinder to conform to other prores files with the same first 16 character, the Red Proxy files, or the R3D files.

I don't know what files Davinci wants to color. Most likey they need to Reconnect to the actual R3D, but maybe to the _H like with Apple Color. Are they using the new Resolve or an older Davinci suite?

I believe this was what happened- the ProRes was created from a 3rd party application, rather than in L&T. When you use L&T to create/transcode footage, each clip is given a UUID, which is embedded both in the clip and in the FCP XML, so you can rename the file, and FCP will still recapture the footage from the correct clip and mag via L&T. Without the UUID tag, FCP will launch Log and Capture instead.

One workflow to get QT wrapped R3Ds is here:

the prores was created with redcine 20.0.0.

I tried with "conform xml" with clipfinder and to change .mov to proxys F and it does not work because clipfinder doesn't recognize
