Hey,
So I've got a finished edit on a project. Now I just finished my grade. Basically I have some FX work to do, and I want to do them with the graded footage, but still in the highest quality.

Is that clear? Essentially I have all of my footage graded, so everything matches between shots. Now I have some FX work, which involves some cropped/scaled shots— and I don't want to lose that resolution/detail— so I want to work with the highest resolution image and keep my original grade.

Can I export to R3D's from Redcine X? Or should I do a Quicktime (Video) export in 4K?

Should I export uncompressed Quicktime in 4K? (4096 x 2304)?

I think the latest AE can take RMD from REDCINE-X, so do the metadata grading in RCX, then read it in AE and apply RMD. That will save you a lot of time exporting as other format.

Thanks Kaku.

Not sure exactly how to do this. I only see the option to automatically save RMD files...

Are you basically saying I just need to open the RCX project file in AE? Sorry if this appears an amateur RED post question... I am not an expert!

Alright sorry to extend this workflow issue...

I did effects in AE using the original R3Ds... then I graded in rcx... I want to replace the source files in AE with full quality, graded footage... but how do I go about doing this?

I need a step-by-step if anyone has a second... like:
1) open RCX, and click "Blahblha"...

If anyone can simplify this for me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe it's because I haven't updated my AE since the new September update... doh!
