I am pleased to announce that "Les Nuits Rouges Du Bourreau De Jade", (English title: "Red Nights") a motion picture entirely shot on Red will be premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Midnight Madness Selection
Filming took place in 2009 in Hong Kong, with a Red One (our own #1703 that we bought, tried on a short film and decided to use on the long feature, that had originally been thought for 2:35 35mm, after being so pleased with the results) and Zeiss Ultra Prime lenses on 4K anamorphic under the masterful control of our cinematographer Ng Man-Ching
Grading (not much retouching believe me, only to make sure we got back the colors as they had been filmed) conforming and other picture related steps of the post-production done in Brussels, Belgium where the digital to 35mm transfer was shot on 4K with a Aaton K (I believe we were the first commercial long feature to use the Aaton K in 4K and with extremely pleasing result).
Anyway, (moving) pictures speak better than words so
here is a link to the 1080p teaser trailer.
Not being an objective party, I won't comment on the film's quality but I can tell you that thanks to our DP's work, all people who at any time of the production and post-production got to check the images became Red enthusiasts. Not that Red needs us to confirm a quality that has been established by much bigger names than ours, but it is a pleasure to help spread the good word and be part of the future, and we're sure we will renew this tremendously exciting experience.
