  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ownership Transfer of Executed R1

Dusty,

I will be replying to the email you have sent to RED support with details.

Best Regards,

Michael

Every single deal made so far with both Red ONes and or Epic cameras have been made as with an agreement of a Lease option to buy, till now it has been my firm understanding that there is no other way to do this, as if you sale strait out the Red ONe camera, there is then the lost of the Right to the Upgrade of the Epic-X.

So make sure you don't do the wrong thing here. ;)

The word I am getting from Red is that I have to keep the camera in my name until I take delivery of my Epic. Seems kinda goofy that I can't separate the two cameras.

Actually, it is pretty simple. Red doesn't want to have to keep track of who has rights to what - I.e. One guy sells r1 with transfer also of upgrade option while another sells but keeps upgrade option. And with multiple stages there were even more permutations.

Afaik red doesn't care much what you do with it - they just don't want to have to keep track on their systems. Pretty reasonable.

The only real problem is to download camera software you have to have a Red Owner account with Red.

My camera is old enough that it is out of warranty, so that doesn't matter. Just getting an account to download software.

Then the original owner just has to be fair about downloading firmware for the new "owner". not perfect but not a huge problem either.
