  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Does Redone can continuously record 60-80mins for one shot reliably?

Hello.

If I use the HDsik for recording, would it be reliable? We will record 80mins footage continuously every day. Would it loss frames? I'm not sure about RAID0.

Thanks.

I've done longer takes without problems, but to be safe it is always better to stop and start the camera; just in case something goes wrong.

Also, it depends on your shooting circumstances, i.e. vibrations, loud noise etc. are not good for harddisk recordings. In that case I woould advise you to use the RED Ram.

Yes. We have done numerous 6 camera shoots of live events over 70 min long and there were no problems.

Thanks! The circumstances is just like such classroom for teaching, without big vibrations. How long can RED RAM record one time?

Thanks! we will use RED for one 80mins or over footage Every Day. I have non chance to take shot again.
So the reliability is the key problem.

We shoot 3 cameras for up to 2 hours continuously. We generally don't have problems, but for the dreaded CODEC FAULT.

Remember that red batteries last about 2 hours, so if you want to record longer you'll need to power off mains AC; or use the Switronix dual battery mount.

...sometimes 1 hour 18 minutes and 32 seconds, after which a 30-second countdown to shut the camera down begins...heaps of time for a 1 hour 18 minures and 14 seconds show that we shot in the Opera with Jim Hare a few weeks ago. :yikes:

RED RAM can record about 72 minutes of 4K RC36 and the amount of record time goes up from there as you change to other modes or RC28 data rate. For a classroom situation, the drive should be just fine. If you walk around with it hand-held, just have the drive on a shock mount in case anyone bumps the camera or operator, no big deal.

Just FYI, orders for new drives and RAMs are not being accepted right now. Both products have been on back-order with orders being filled slowly and something new is replacing them real soon. My speculative guess is the new media is magazines based on 1.8" SSD modules. Or perhaps the new SATA-based C.Fast which is to replace CF media.

Plenty of drives/RAMs out there to borrow or rent, though...

:yesnod: Thank you very much, Kilgroe. Maybe I will select the RAM or wait for the new media. :driving:
