Hi There!

I am looking to buy a 3 Party on board monitor for mine & friend's Red Cam back up, does any one know how's the iKan VX7? Is it work for the Red Cam? I had been contact with iKan and got the feedback it will not show the "metadata stream" on the bottom, any one who had more info and experienced please show what's the difference between Red Lcd. Thanks so much.

Cheers

We use Small HD - great if not in bright sunlight, but OK even if it is - a much nicer lcd for less, in my opinion. iKan monitors I've seen are rather crappy.

On teh SmallHd you can config to see all data.

I have the Manhatten LCD and it is fantastic.

Hi Rob & Gary!

Thanks so much for your feedback!

So, for the Manhattan LCD, can it display the Metadata Stream like Red LCD?
Thanks s lot.

Dun like the Ikan either. SmallHD is great for the focus pullers...sharp as hell..not so good for judging color though

Do you like Ikan for judging color?
Do you think VX9 better ?
Thanks in advance...

Best Regards,

ikan is useless for color - for color you would need a non-lcd like a plasma, CRT or oled.

Small HD is better than most for color - but anyway it's RAW so not so crucial.

Thanks Rob...
Do you like OLed?
I heard that 12 series Panasonic Plasma are very good.
But what advice for field monitor not so pricey?
Once SmallHD isn't available right now.
Thanks,

cheers

A plasma is getting pretty big for a field monitor - Oleds have a very, very short life for now.

Another small hd user here. I've got the dp1x, its pretty much the best monitor for the money I'd say. Make sure you get the newer version though, the older ones were not as good. It's got great color and resolution for pulling focus.
