SOLD Birger Mount
, serial 05275, dumb, for sale. Lets you use Canon lenses, and with an adapter, a wide range of other lenses, such as Nikon, Contax and Pentax. The mount has all the electronics inside, but I never tested them, so I am selling this as a dumb mount. A very sturdy mount, beautifully engineered. 400 USD. Disclaimer: installing this mount on your RED camera voids the warranty. Also, installing the mount will void the trade-in of your RED. You will not be able to execute your camera.
This mount might be a good option for someone with a R1 executed for Stage 2, and willing to wait with the installation until the Epic is received.

I also have an accessory cable for the Birger mount, new price $85, yours for $50.

SOLD Alesniak Canon mount (also known as: Wicked Circuits). Plastic, dumb version, very light weight. This was the first Canon mount to get the greenlight from RED. Yours for $150 or best offer. IMHO, not the greatest mount mechanically, but might be a nice backup to have in your kit, in case you ever want to use a Canon-compatible lens.

SOLD Redrock Micro follow focus with three gear rings, this is the first version for 15mm rods. The little dial has broken off, as is usual with this ff. You can upgrade the ff to the current v2. New $650, yours for $200.

Chrosziel Canon XL-1 adapter, product no. 401-44, lets you use the lovely Chrosziel lightweight matte-boxes on an XL-1. (Like this one, without the rods). New $350, make me an offer.

4 Lexar 8gb CF cards, they work just fine in the R1, like the RED 8gig cards. New $660, yours $200 for the lot.

Manfrotto 501 head with LANC control on the arm. Curiosity: serial number 00100. I have seen people using this head with an R1 but wouldn't recommend it  - meant for a Sony miniDV type of camera.

Pentax K10d DSLR camera, can be used in rain, thanks to its dust and weather seals. Has a built-in anti-shake system, where the sensor floats on a magnetic cushion. With extra battery grip. More info and a review here. New $900, yours for $400. Lenses: Pentax Kit lens 18-55, never used. Free with the camera. Sigma 10-22 DC, a lens that has gotten some deservedly good reviews. New $480, yours for 290.

Sigma Nikon 28-70/2.8, new $350, yours for $175. I used this lens briefly on my R1, back in the days before there was a legal Canon mount available.

SOLD Nikon 35-70/3.3-4.5 AF Nikkor. I used this lens many, many moons ago. Makes slight scraping noise when zooming. Yours for $10 with any purchase ;).

Sony DSR-570 16:9/4:3 switchable 3chip shoulder full format DVcam PAL camera. Has only been used by me. Comes with Canon lens, Porta-Brace armor and Porta-Brace bag. And quick release plate. New: $20k, asking for minimum $5k. 35 full format DV tapes, Panasonic, 96 and 128 minutes. $175 when sold with above camera.

All prices are in USD and excl. shipping from Norway. Payment by PayPal or wire.

Hi Scott,

Right now I can only give you some crappy first gen iPhoto pictures, I hope it helps. Basically it is just a tiny bit that is chipped off, can be either fixed with some camera tape, or by building a little triangle out of plastic and gluing it onto the holder.

I could either ship it as an airmail letter, that would cost 27 USD, or as a trackable package for 44.50 USD with the post office. (UPS want a ridiculous >200 USD)

Hello Martin,

I am currently climbing the mountain of Red know how preparing to shoot a documentary with Red MX and canon lenses starting mid September.

I have been looking at the Birger mount. Can you provide any opinions on functionality etc? I see you've sold your already so I am simply asking for advice here - but at least way it will come without bias!

I appreciate any warnings/praisings you can offer.

Caroline

Caroline,

I only had the dumb mount version, but that one was made of excellent quality.

I would say that if you need the electronic functions, I would recommend the Birger mount (keeping in mind that it will kill your warranty and upgrade path). If you don't need the electonic functuality, my recommendation would be the Allstar A-mount (which leaves the warranty intact). The latter will also let you use a number of other lenses, including Nikon and PL mount, so you can mix-and-match your lenses.
