Sorry I meant to post in Apple Workflow

Original Post: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48328

I need to bulk pull about 70 different still image frames @ 4K for graphic design use. I was trying to figure out a workflow to do this so I dont have to look up all the timecodes by hand and save the TIFFs that way.

The offline editor already created a stringout of the frames in a FCP sequence with the client. I was hoping to figure out a FCP>Clipfinder>REDCINE-X workflow so that they would just appear in the bin or timeline of REDCINE-X, but Clipfinder adds handles and is giving me in and out points not near the frame I need to pull.

This at least gets me closer to the still frame I want to save by conforming a short section of the appropriate clip and allowing me to check time TC of the clip in FCP vs. REDCINE-X, but it is still added time to scroll through the clip and find the exact frame.

Any suggestions to streamline the process of getting the FCP still frames to REDCINE-X to get the new 4K TIFFs?

I'd have taken them out through xml to Clipfinder, and then sent them to RedRocket (or export them directly from Clipfinder...)

That's what I tried, but when importing the XML into Clipfinder - it doesn't maintain the proper in and out point - 1 frame - and adds handles. Is there any way to maintain the in and out point in Clipfinder as 1 frame.

In Clipfinder:

1. Import Clips from FCP XML
2. Select XML > options import subclips,
3. Merge mode: none, all, or overlapping w/ add 0 frame handles all produce the same results
3. See clips in Clipfinder list, but they have handles on them, the in and out point has changed from the FCP in and out points

Ouch. That was odd...

I'll see if I can find time to look into this tomorrow...

Have you tried the free lua script into RCX?
I haven't, but it could work...

I seemed to figure out the handle problem. In clipfinder when I was setting the add handles box to 0, I was just hitting the return key to move to the next step, because it was the last option box. I don't think it was maintaining that 0 number, so I hit tab and then return. It worked. Or there was voodoo this morning that I couldnt create late last night.

Good for you!

So I don't have to dig this in when I get up? -:))

I got it. It was just the handle part that wasn't working last night (I was tired!). My workflow was correct, but rendering out of Clipfinder introduced a weird color shift so I went to REDCINE-X for my last step. So here are my steps for bulk pulling still frames from a FCP timeline:

1. Save XML from FCP
2. Import FCP XML into Clipfinder - Settings: Import Subclips merge mode: none, add 0 frame handles (make sure to tab out before hitting enter or open)
3. Verify your in and out points are right in CF
4. Replace MOV with R3D
5. Send to REDCINE-X - Timeline
6. Change look as you want
7. Export 4k TIFFs

Thanks for reporting the issue with entering the handle size.
I have fixed it in my code. The change will go out with the next release (might be a while, though).

General reminder: whenever you find an issue, feel free to mail me directly. That is the fastest way to get things fixed.

Cheers,
Hans
