I just finished this trailer/teaser but have not set us up on IMDB yet.

This script (I wrote) got into the top 25 for Project Greenlight back in 2001. We've shot (on RED) going between two cameras build 21 and 30 (making post very "interesting" :)

We started shooting 6 months ago (nights and weekends thing). I'm currently finishing the edit, color grading and sound mixing myself. Yes, the writer, director, editor and colorist... ugh. But it is COMPLETELY independent and all of my "hard" costs have been under $5,000. 148 scenes, 36 locations, 34 speaking parts and 200 + extras all under 5k.

Fantastic!... when done, write an article telling how you pulled it off and post a link.

(Now, if I only had 5 grand.)

Why tout the fact that you only spent $5000???

You should be saying you spent less than $100,000.

Now when you try to sell it distributors will be offering peanuts.

Looks great... Some shots are REALLY nice in fact...

But what is it about? Trailer doesn't give us that...

Agree with Shawn here. You've come so far, but just taking shots and mix them up, tells us nothing. It makes me, unfortunately, completely uninterested in the film.

(and it's not a teaser either - I believe this is more of a director throws together some of his favourite shots to show something before he has taken the time to actually sit down and work on it).

Not trying to be harsh if it comes out like that. Just trying to give constructive criticism. You need to sit down and re edit that trailer - so it actually makes you grasp what the story will be about and thereby making you interested in it.

Thank you everybody for your feedback and response! I apologize for not being very adept at posting and what not.

- Erik - I surprised myself everyday with my "negotiating" skills.

- Elsie - Thank you! It would make a great book! :)

- Roberto -My name is Andrew Freeman as soon as I figure out how to change my info on this site I will :)

- Sergei - Nevada is a "right to work state" And I am a SAG actor so I appreciate where you are coming from.

- Michael - I've often thought the same thing... right?
At least my profit margin would be decent... I hope.

- Shawn I agree... it does just look "pretty" but I just meant it as a "teaser" and not really a "trailer". It's something I literally threw together at the last minute. I'll have a story-line based trailer coming out in the next week or two.

- Jay - Thanks!

- Fredrick - Agreed, a different trailer with VO etc. is forthcoming. Thanks for the feedback and support!

- Rob - I'm going to tell you a very special secret (shhhhh) I used the on-board sound from the RED. I had no budget for a sound man. So, I just kind of winged it with 3 or 4 channels of lav's and a boom. I covered my bases pretty well and having a little post-audio knowledge helped :)

That is a fantastic achievement. I take it that you pulled a lot of favours, and got your actors to work without pay? Perhaps even borrowed a RED!

- Subhadip - Yes, my best friend (and business partner) owns two RED cameras. Both had been rented to a production house in Seattle for a feature film. The payment agreement for the rental was they would retro-fit our cameras with the mysteruim X sensors. So, we shot our my feature with their two (loaner) cameras. So, they could shoot with the mysteruim x.

And... yes... I pulled every favour one could imagine to get the film done :)

Well done Andrew. You are an inspiration to those of us who, so used to being professionals, need to do everything "right" and so wind up not doing it at all.

I'm going to start mapping out my weekends.

Great accomplishment. Wonderful production values, and not just because of the limited budget. I agree with others here that you should write up the story of how you accomplished this. It encourages others like myself to keep pushing to get our long term projects "in the can." Again - well done!

When I saw feature shot 4K for under 5K, I thought it was a joke and expected the teaser to look like and sound like crap, but what I saw was anything but. Hats off to you for pulling this off. I'd also be interested in a write up of how you did this.
