I have kit coming from two sources. Will the following work together?

- Cooke 18-100mm
- MB20-I with two 4x5.65 trays
- FF5HD installed correctly or "backwards"

all on 19mm

Urgent - thanks!

MB 20 is too small for the 18-100 I have, and they don't work. I also have a redrock
that I modded that works. MB-28 or MB-14 I believe are 6X6

Hi Paul,

Yes. I have a handful of gears, several big ones, and can make it work.

Thanks again.

As Adrian points out, if you remove the rear 143mm bellows ring from the MB20, you can usually fit the 18-100 in there. The front diameter of the 18-100 is 150mm. This really isn't the most ideal situation, though. 4x5.65 filters typically work with the 18-100, provided you don't need to rotate and you're not stacking more than 2 of them. Just be careful as they can be a problem at the wide focal lengths in some situations, especially if you want to shoot 4.5K. The lens really needs a 6x6 mattebox and filters, as others have pointed out. The MB14 and MB28 are great with this lens.

Additionally, the 18-100 takes drop-in filters, but you need the Cooke filter holders that go with the lens. Sadly, many of the 18-100's that are in service no longer have the holders or any filters to use in this manner. There are two kinds of holders for the lens, one that holds square, unmounted filters -- I think 1.25". The other takes 39.5mm round threaded, but needs extremely low profile filters. I don't know where to obtain them currently, or if anyone still makes them. In addition to my set of NDs for the lens, I had some "blank" filter rings with my 18-100, but I have sold the lens and don't have anything else to go with it...

FF-5 works fine. You may need to change the gear to your liking, but no big deal there. You will of course need an adapter to mount the FF-5, which takes 60mm spaced 15mm light-weight rods by default.
