Has anyone used an ET Arri Dovetail with the Miller Arrow 55 quick connect camera plate, and did it sit on the head properly when the Miller plate was screwed to the ET Arri plate?

Perhaps someone out there has come up with another way of mating an Arri Dovetail of some make with an Arrow 55?

Saw one thread from Jeff K from 08 saying maybe probably, but not conclusive.

Thanks...

I use the ET Arri Dovetail with the Miller Arrow 55 all the time. The small quickplate has both a 3/8" and a 1/4" bolt to attach to the Arri plate. The spacing isn't optimal, but it works fine and is very solid.

FWIW, I've been using the combo for over two years now and while my Arrow 55 head still looks new, and mostly performs like new, the quickplate and locking mechanism have worn enough where I have too much "slop" there now. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not 100% solid, as it was when new. I'll probably have to get a new quickplate and have the head serviced sometime in the next year...

Jeff,

As usual Jeff Kilgroe Free Support Services has the answer, thanks! Funny you mention the wear - I have been using the Miller 55 constantly in wild places now for 18 months and loving it, mine still works as new with a few scratches despite torture. I was using an old Arri plate I got from a friend who did not know what it was, machined it to receive the 2 miller screws and there it lived. But after a lot of on and off its worn out more than it already was when I got it, and the custom tap is getting cross threaded from too many on and offs in the aluminum switching to lightweight mode for jib.

Thus the need for a new unbelievably expensive piece of machined aluminum - if it says ET and/or Arri on it...

Allstar has a lower cost alternative that I ahve be using for a little over a year
and is still rock solid
